Except that it would be weird... since I'm married. Anyway... I just sold my last "valuable" game on eBay. Okay... big deal. But I have a story to go along with it. Here goes...
I really, really wanted a PS3. But, I didn't see the need to rush out and buy one with the lack of games out there at the moment. But, we all know the games are coming. Patience is a virtue, I suppose. So, a few weeks ago, the PS3 drops $100. My interest peaked. This happened right in the middle of a move. My wife and I just got a new apartment, and when packing stuff up at the old place, I noticed I had a lot of old games/accessories/etc. And, most of this was in my storage.
Anyway, I threw in a box the stuff I KNEW I wasn't going to use/play anymore and drove it to a place called Slackers (they buy/trade used games... a local EB Games if you will). I also took my PS2, just to see how much I would get. Well, with the PS2 included, they were willing to give me close to $250 store credit. This was actually quite a bit more than I was expecting, since the stuff I was getting rid of was very unused junk (except for the PS2). I'm not exactly sure why I still had it. Well, I gave in and decided to buy a PS3 with the store credit, especially since I could still play the PS1/PS2 games I didn't want to part with. And I wanted the EE chip in my PS3 before Sony did away with it.
Anyway, I'm very happy with my PS3 (mostly for Blu-ray and DVD upscaling purposes as of right now). But I still had to fork out $250+ of my hard-earned cash (err, credit card) to cover the rest of the PS3's price tag. So it hit me... I have games I really, really enjoyed... mostly old, classic RPGs (e.g. Panzer Dragoon Saga, Lunar 1 & 2, etc.), and it feels weird to get rid of them. In my mind, I feel like I'm saving them for a rainy day. Well, as I grow older, I realize that those rainy days never seem to happen. It's sad... really sad.
So, I sold my "rarities" online on eBay, and I'm happy to say that my last game (sold this morning) put me well over $600 (including the $250 store credit). My old, dusty junk bought me a PS3 with money to spare. I guess my point is this... don't live in the past. Your swag that's sitting around collecting dust may be worth something. Out with the old and in with the new. It might be worth more than you realize. |

What did you sell and how much did you sell them for.
I have a ton of stuff sitting around. Not sure if I want to sell it though.
I have a freakin original copy of Dracula X: Rhondo of Blood for the PC Engine. I knew that was going for $200 by itself for a while. |

I have a huge chunk of stuff I barely use, but I know I can't part with any of it. I guess I'm a hoarder when it comes to games, but I took 3 (admittedly cheap) games to GAME today (the UK's largest video game retailler) and was offered £6 in store credit, which is a joke to be honest with you so I didn't bother. |

My biggest eBay sell was Panzer Dragoon Saga for the Sega Saturn. It went for $170.50. Then, Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete for the PS1 (which went for $77.99). Its sequel, Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete, went for $58.00. I also sold a few computer parts I wasn't using.
The rest of the stuff was just odds and ends that I traded for store credit. I'm not sure what each item was worth specifically, but I got almost $250 out of the lot. Old stuff, like Taiko Drum Master, Xenosaga, Chrono Cross, Vagrant Story... even the Bouncer... and a bunch more games. I had some GBA games I didn't realize I had as well. Funny, since I haven't had my GBA for several years. I also had a stockpile of controllers, cables, memory cards, adapters, etc.
I wish I would have sold my Dreamcast BBA a couple of years ago. I would've made a killing off of it. I might see what eBay does with it. But, I'm not certain if there are any Dreamcast servers available anymore. Hmmm... |

Yeah, I just made my PS3 purchase today. Took in about 150 worth of trade ins, and was sitting on about 300 bucks worth of loose change. So that pretty much covered the majority. Picked up the rest with my extra check and a couple games... now to just wait for Littlebigworld...

LittleBigPlanet.
Well, that's good to know Friz. I have all of the games you listed.
Not to mention things like Arc the Lad Collection and the original sega cd releases of the Lunar games.
Oh... and Dragon Force.
One day I'll sell them. One day. |

I bet my NES/SNES/N64 collection could fetch me a pretty penny. Especially with things like FF 1, 2, 3 and MQ, Dragon Warrior 1 - 4, Castlevania 1 - 4 + Drac X, CT, Ogre Battle and a bunch of crazy stuff. |

Hey, another PS3 owner! Congrats!
I have Dragon Force as well... couldn't part with it, because I still play it. If you have Panzer Dragoon Saga, I'd part with it. Have you loaded it up recently? It's damn ugly. It was a GREAT game in its prime, but now... bleh. Plus, its resale value is on the decline. A year ago, I would have EASILY made about $250.
If you have everything I listed, I'd start selling. Don't wait too long, because you have to remember... old systems don't last forever. |

You know Friz, you may be right. I've noticed that going back to old 2D games isn't hard, but going back to old 3D games... that's difficult sometimes. |

Definitely with you there, Shino. My remaining Saturn games are all 2D. And sorry if I seem to be pressuring you into selling your stuffs. I'm certainly not trying to do that. It was a little hard for me to let go of some of my gear, but after doing so, I really don't have any regrets. |
