Probably the coolest collectable ever. It is basically a 3D print of your character with the gear your character has.
Info on it.
The site (opens Dec 11)
I definitely would love to get one of Minas. Be even better if they added some sort of dripping blood effect from my savagery enchant from my Gorehowl! |

These look cool, seems to be a trend now. Rock Band are also gonna release 3D figures of your Rock Avatars/Bands.
If I had a nice character I'd look into this, but I only have my lvl 60 paly who's decked out in crap gear. |

This is unreal. Someone needs to buy stock in this company. 7million WoW users alone...and I can only see this spreading out into further media. |

They must use genius artist child labor. I know how designing and completing 2D versions of custom characters can be daunting - no telling how 3D will be.
Although - having an idea already of the equipment that is out there the can just cast molds of the different armor for the different body types to anticipate the requests.
Still - OY! |

Try 9 million Dai. Wow, that is freakin amazing. I'm going to look up some info on the process, I'm very interested in how this is going to be done. The sad thing is, I'll probably end up with one of these when I get my Pally geared the way I want her. |

I can see people getting multiples of the same character as more expansions/tiered armor is released.

Thats whats scary about this. Im guessing they havn't fully realized the massive influxof order they're about to have. I mean, its pretty mind boggling. Richer players may buy two or three off the bat. Im sure all the RPers will want one, and sentimental gamers of all kinds. I mean, the price point of 99$ is EXTREMLY reasonable and puts it just enough to be expensive, but just cheap enough for anyone to think "I could swing that..." |

from how i understand 3d printers, it's like a layering of a medium suspended in liquid. it sets in one layer of a medium, and then progressively adds in layers. i've seen examples of this in architectural stuff. the tricky part would be painting them. (unless they have some sort of fancy way of setting that up automatically. which would still be impressive.) |

This is pretty awesome. But it's not new new technology. I've seen this before in Siggraph in 2004. They had a booth showing something similar.
I also read that Rock Band was doing this too when their new website went live, but we'll see how that goes. |
