Kind of strange, but it was one of the fastest things I've ever written (about thirty minutes to a full hour). Hope you all like it!

ROAR
I shot up in my bed and grabbed at my chest and tore off my shirt; my heart felt like it had just exploded. My eyes are wild and scanning every corner of the room, desperate for air.
It takes several minutes for my head to clear – the left side of my chest feels sore and achy. The sheets are draped over my legs and the comforter is on the floor. My pillows are dry as bone, despite the sweat on my brow. Several more deep breaths and I dive into my head.
It ended with me going to Heaven. Or maybe it was Hell. It was colored white and it swirled like clouds inside a big frame. A man with horns was standing in front of it and he held a stick that was simple and wooden, and he had a big silver ring on his nose and a gold chain around his neck with charms and crosses. The man with horns looked familiar, but I shrugged it off. I don’t pay enough attention to names, but I never forget faces. It was so familiar.
He asked me to retrieve him fish from the Jordan and I did as I was told. I knew it took me a long time to get to where I was going and I was fed up with trying to get there, but I did it anyway. It was the most beautiful in the early morning when the sun would rise and the sky would turn the color of a fresh peach, and when the sun would start to go down since the grass was the most green and the sky was the most blue.
When I got to the river Jordan I fished for several days until I felt the line pull three times. I took four steps back and yanked hard and fifty fish came out of the river and landed at my feet. I picked the three greatest ones and tied them together with fishing line and walked back to the big gate. When I got back, I asked the man why he wanted these fish. His face became more and more familiar as I spoke
“I am not a Taurus,” he said and picked at his horn, “but I am a Pisces.” I shrugged because I didn’t know what that meant, but I felt like I had heard it somewhere. He reached forward and took the fish from my hand and put two of them in his mouth and chewed until he began to glow a brilliant turquoise. He handed me one of the fish and smiled to me, “Now it is your turn, king of the jungle.” His eyes looked like oceans and his pupils were old men floating across the savage seas. His face changed every time I saw it and was just as familiar as it was before. I chewed the fish in my mouth and wretched a bit since I did not like fish, but out of respect I finished it anyway and was satisfied with my meal.
He touched my head and the ground underneath my feet turned to elephant grass and I felt my hair flowing underneath the warm wind and my hands becoming claws. My mouth opened up and let out a tremendous roar and I fell on all fours and I fought to maintain my mind.
“You have the heart of a lion, but that is not enough.” He said. I walked on all fours into the middle of the savannah until I could walk no more. I fell on my side and lost my mind when two people – a man and a woman – carried water to me and doused me. I got up and thanked them and they told me that a Lion’s heart was only within me. “But how can I find a Lion’s heart?”
The woman put my hand to my heart and warmth flowed everywhere. I stood back up on two legs and walked back to the man in front of the gate and showed him my heart, which flowed into my hand in many different colors. He pressed it back into my body and smiled greatly.
“You are ready. Come join me in paradise.” He left through the gate and disappeared into the swirling mist and I followed. I walked through and my body became just my hands. The sky and the earth disappeared and all that remained was a red, red light that colored everything like the blood that beat through my own heart.
My hands shattered and my mind collapsed and finally my eyes opened. Now the sweat has finally gone away and I breathe steady. My heart continues to beat rapidly and it feels sore. I take a walk into my basement and open the freezer and press a package of frozen peas to my chest and try to let my heart slow down. I was breathing normally, but my heart was ready to leap out of my throat – it feels like I had finished running a mile and the veins in my neck are practically visible. The beating is so tremendous that my chest thuds outward with each beat. I fall on my knees and roar and fall back asleep on top of the frozen peas. |

Wow. That was.... AWESOME! Seriously I've never felt so like I knew what was going on and at the same time completely confused. This was inspired. Rock on. |
