Staycation...

...is the new name given to the phenomenon of people staying home instead of going on vacation because going on vacation has gotten too expensive.

I know that whoever invented this word thinks it's really clever and probably thinks they're really cool, but personally, it annoys me. I can't understand why we feel the need to assign stupid made-up names to mundane things...like staying home. Seriously?

I think that this is a sign that the higher prices on...everything...are really starting to get to people. We're so delerious with getting robbed blindly for basic needs that we're making up words.

Another sign is that now making cut-backs on things is the new spending. Before all this nonsense you would try to buy more crap than your neighbor because that meant you were obviously better than he was. But now, you get more "I'm better than you" points for cutting back on more things than your neighbor.

"Hey honey, did you hear that the Joneses cut back on going out to eat because the economy is hurting right now?"
"Those bastards! Always trying to show us up! Well you know what? We're cutting back on EATING, period! That'll show them who's better!"

Sorry....I went from one mundane rant to another, deeper rant. I'm done...for now...

Eh, it doesn't bug me nearly as much as GA Lazy Talk. Whenever I hear 'y'all' I wanna hit something.

I am subscribed to this daily emails of nifty little items but they just sent out one about their new book they published of all their "cleverly fused words". It was nearly enough for me to cancel my subscription.

It makes me cringe as much as "relook".

I say "ustacould" pretty often, am I lame? I mean, saying "I ustacould do that" is just much easier and shorter than saying "I used to be able to do that". Lazy, maybe, but I'm from GA and I grew up saying it, what do you want from me? Overall I'm pretty lacking in the hick accent/saying department so I think I should get a free pass on this one. I dont even say ya'll that much really if ever anymore....usually an actual "you all" fills in, but most of my family says ya'll =\ Its just a southern thing ya darn yankee's! =P lol jk
