I did!
For those of you who quit seeing the SAW movies after number three, I would recommend you stay away from SAW V until it comes out on DVD.
Saw V was somewhat predictible and decides to go back in time. It turned into more of a cop/FBI drama than a horror movie. Although I will say that the "games" in this sequel were just as bloody and gruesome as ever. And the ending is somewhat unexpected.
If you go in with low expectations you won't be totally disappointed, but the "game" scenes were few and far between.
My hand is "split down the middle" when deciding whether to give a thumbs up or down but you won't be "crushed" if you miss this in the theatres.
The best part? A trailor for Michael Bays version of Friday the 13th. YAY! Camp Crystal Lake and Jason. (che-che-che, hah-hah-hah)
LOL (writing sound effects is hard!) |

I would go see this, but I haven't seen ANY of the other Saw movies. It's something that I keep telling myself I have to do at some point. |

You'd still enjoy the movie, although some of the plot points (which are horrible anyways) wouldn't make sense, but you still would get the gist of it.
I went just to see the "games" anyways. I don't ever flinch or scream or jump at horror movies, but I flinched/jumped a couple of times. Worth a matinee, but not full price. |

I do want to see the other ones, however, especially the first. I think the series is more recognized and has more accolades (in certain circles) than most people may initially give it credit for. |

I agree. I loved the first three! They really kept you guessing who and where was the killer and what people do when they are under stress situations.
It also speaks about morality too. In tough times people should stick together, not "every man for himself." That has always (I think) been the basic premise of the SAW movies. And that the most obvious solutions or gut instinct, if you will, are usually the correct ones. |
