but 1up gave this game an A+... Holy crap... an A+ to a PS2 game even when all the next gen consoles are in their prime!

That's the great thing about Persona games...they don't require the latest in technology to be absolutely amazing.

I had never played a Persona game until 3 came out, and I had heard than it was linked to the Shin Megami Tensei games (also a good line, although I am going to say that Persona is even better).

It's kind of like a sim mixed with an RPG, where your levels of social activity attribute to your battle prowess. So a very original concept. It also has anime character designs and cut scenes ^o^ which I fully enjoy.

+you have to shoot yourself in the head every time you want to release a persona. >:D it's rawsome.

I actually haven't played any of either Shin Megami nor Persona series of games! Are each of them stand-alone or do you need to have played the older ones to understand the story?

So far, I have only played Shin Megami Tensei Nocturne and Persona 3. Both were awesome, but in different ways. SMT:N is kinda like Pokemon (XD) but with demons. Very dark. In Persona 3, you sorta do the whole "demon collecting" thing, but it's less important to the game. What is more important is strengthening various types of social skills (through interactions with characters, academic activity, etc) so that you can get demons in that skill (called "Arcana"). So it's kind of like two games in one.

And again. You have to shoot yourself in the head. How cool is that? XD

SMT _IS_ really dark, but Persona isn't as much. Other than the shooting-yourself-in-the-head part. Which I really kinda dig, but to each their own >:D

XD I know how you feel. Too many games, not enough time/money.

I'm thinking you should be able to find used P3 or FES.

Oh, and I just found out that there is no shooting yourself in the head in P4. So maybe that will be more of your kinda bag. XD although in the game, you're investigating a gruesome murder mystery....yum. >:)

i don't think this has a UK release yet, but I imagine Koei will pick it up at some point, they did with pretty much all the PS2 Shin Megami Tensei games.
