Ok, so this past weekend I was in the Atlanta area. And I had directions that I printed out for every place we needed to go. And I came to a conclusion:

Whoever decided on the design and names of the roads in that area needs to be punched. Hard. The number of times we turned around because the directions said to go onto a specific road and we went the wrong damn way was ridiculous! And why are the street signs so freakin tiny?! I have to be practically IN the intersection to see them, even when it's some intersection with numerous lanes of traffic.

Virginia Beach roads wind and everything, and some have the same name (we have two Lynnhaven's, one Road one Parkway) but even when we were first tying to find places we never had as many issues as we did in GA.

Ok, I'm done now. I just really don't understand it, although I still wanna move down there Razz

OMG I KNOW. xD -I- had to turn around a billion times driving poor Asa (Katie, for those of you who were at teh wedding!) home from the airport and I -live- in the damn state! The roads are so confusing and poorly marked and directions always seem to be wrong somehow. WTF is wrong with you, GA? ^_-

If you want confusing, near my workplace, there are three Notre-Dame Streets in close proximity of one another, each belonging to a different city.

And the Old Alabama Road Connector.... around here it would have its own stinkin NAME. I remember looking at the directions going "that can't possibly be serious..." but it WAS.

My husband thinks we shoudl just flatten the entire country and make one big grid. If you want to go to CA from VA, take that road there and just keep driving straight. This is more because we argue when I read him teh directions, he blows over the minor things like the road changing names and then gets mad at me when we get lost.

Driving down McGinnis Ferry Rd and passing all of the Johns Creek stuff while looking for Jones Bridge... he looks at me and goes "are you SURE it's not Johns Creek?" >.<

you know it is funny... the roads in the outer areas of GA (rural) are better marked than in the town... guess that is because they don't un-necessarily change the name of a road for PR's sake everytime a politician gets elected or a civil rights leaders meet his maker and want people to not get lost if just passing through Neutral

there is also the issue of road work. in my home town of La Grange they fixed a road and kept moving no matter the hour. only time there was a delay in sign changes or road fixes was if federal personnel or Army Corps of Engineers were involved. even in those cases road signs/names were not removed until a replacement was avail and was up w/in a week (beaurocracy...)

Wow, I wish Milwaukee was like that. They say there aren't 4 seasons here, just two. Winter and Construction. As soon as the weather gets nice the orange barrels seem to multiply and traffic, although not nearly as bad as bigger cities, just drags.
