DO YOU REALIZE!?
Some people STILL chop living trees to make an Xmas tree that'll be used for what, 2 or 3 weeks?? Are you conscious of the impact that it has on our forests!? Not to mention that here in Canada, we have plenty of pine forests that will be irradicated from the planet in the next 50 years if we don't stop being asses. Buy pitch-pine instead for our forests' sake!!!
Xmas is evil!!!! 3\/0L!!!!!!! |

I'm going to play the devil's avacado right now, and say that I don't see anything wrong with cutting down a pine tree to use as a christmas tree provided you go and get it from your audobaun society! They can help you find older trees that are going to have to be removed to make room for saplings, but the old trees can still give you happiness by being a great tree.
That, and i love getting to be the devil's avacado.... |

Dude, those old trees you're talking about are like 40' tall minimum, I dought you can fit that into your living room . The small 6' tall trees are young trees, The problem is, if we consider those 6' trees as old ones, the pine forest of the futur will look like nothing but a feild of grass ... well, or a chibi-pine tree forest, sort of |

I prefer the fake trees myself, less sap and the dogs tend to pee on the X-mas presents less. Plus the whole folding it up like an umbrella and putting it in a closet for next year is a bonus. Also, X-mas trees normally come from farms down here in America. A guy buys like 2000 acres of land and seeds it and lets the trees grow in incremements of 500 so every 4 years he harvests and replants. I've never SEEN anyone just tromp into a forest and cut down a tree. in AZ I'm pretty sure that's a federal offence. Unless you have a license. Which in and of itself runs about $250 AND the commision points out WHICH trees you can and can not cut down. |

Yep, we have Christmas tree farms down here. Although my dad has been climbing up and down the pines in his yard to hack them down. (The pines poses a property threat and luckily there are many other breeds of trees out to keep it looking lush.) He's cut down 19 pines and it still looks heavily forested in his yard. What prompted it was one pine was leaning OVER the house. All it would have taken was a bad enough storm to do some MAJOR damage to the house.
Anyway, buy FARM if you buy live. (Although I bought from Home Depot because they get theirs from a farm and I hadn't the time to go out and cut me own this xmas.) |

I personally have a fake tree now. I have always had real ones in the past up to a few years ago. I actually bought a fake tree mainly because I got a 6' Fake for $20 and a 6' real one costs like $120 now.
You should see the size of this 9' real tree we have in the office. smells sooooooooooooo good. That's the only think I miss about my real tree.
But that will all go away when I put together my lego train set and make it run around the tree. |

Yay LEGOS!
And now I am glad that I will make it down to Atlanta to stop in on Doot's family anytime soon. Like Bellandy I have a terrible weakness for all things cute. |
