Any helpful advice?

Hey all POers,

Latley I have been feeling really down due to a hard time in my emotional life. No matter how nice out it is I feel down. When I'm with my friends my spirits are lifted but since I'm home alone all day because my parents work and Rev works I feel even worse. I dont think I'm suffering from depression but I'm seriously sad. As I have said before (I think) I really like my best guy friend. I asked him out a month ago or so right before my birthday and he said no. He also said he didn't want a girlfriend and that he needed a break from girlfriends. He also said he didnt like anyone and he just needed time. He also said he REALLY wanted us to still be Best friends. And we are...... But for some reason I still feel horrible about the refusal. The part that really gets me is that about a week later he starts going out with a girl I can't stand. Then while we were on the phone he asked her out while I could hear it. I was soooo angry I hung up. He doesn't understand why I'm still a little peebved about it nor does he recognize how much I was hurt. Maybe I need to suck it up and enjoy what a great summer I'm having. But for some reason I just can't shake this feeling or bitter sadness. Does anyone have any advice or words of wisdom for me? I could really use them. Thanks,

hey Mika,
I really don't know if what I have to say will help you but here it goes.
It sounds to me like this guy is either a jerk or that he has lost his mind. not even in my utmost evilness would I ever do something like that to anyone. I think that you really need to talk to him and tell him what a jerk he is for what he did.
now on to the general sadness. I think that if you try to stay busy and get outside and enjoy the weather that you will be feeling better in no time. trust me I know I have dealt with being sad and depressed a lot over my 18 years.

Thanks Selrahc. Although its raining here in Westport, CT. I think I'll try to go outside more when its nice out. I can't really tell if he's a jerk. But I think I like him to much to ever say anything about what he did. But I could try. Thanks again! I decided to finish my scarf I've been knitting. That should keep me busy. ~Lee/Mika

Don't stop being his friend. Sometimes, even the smartist people can be blind as to things they have done to others. I don't think he meant to hurt you, after being friends for awhile as you have been he might not be able to to see you as anything other then a friend. If so, that would explain why he would ask out this other girl withen ear-shot of you, he probally just had the mindset of being with a friend so that it wouldn't matter. Being turned down always hurts, as with any injury, things take time to heal. Though, that being said he also just be a fool

Sometimes people just need a little help realizing what's going on... you -> <- him.

Thanks Tiroka, I think Jared needs some help realizing how I feel. But I've decided to move on. I still really like him but if he can't see how great I am He needs help.LOL NAH! I leave for my cousins Wednesday so that'll take my mind off stuff. It really helped Tiroka. Thanks! I'll never stop being his friend though. Unless he did something sooooo horrible. everyones tried to help with the thing with your friend, so im gonna help for when your alone, pick your fave song, one that dont make you think of him and just ROCK ON!! thats what i did all last summer, madem e feel better listening to a whole album on really loud
