College future....unstable condition...very sick

Okay, you guys. You know I had the interview with Oxford back in September for next fall, 2004. I GOT IN!!!!!!!! However, there is one catch. I have been very sick lately. In and out of the hospitals with lung problems and missing a lot of school and work. First, it was double pneumonia, then just this past week, I had pleurisy (very very very very painful might I add, I couldn't breathe at all), now, I have a collapsed lung and have to go in for sugery.

With all this school I am missing, I cannot make up the time and will not be able to go to Oxford next fall. I am sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo pissed off!!!!!!!!!!!! I think I am actually going to cry, because I have worked so hard to earn this, despite what my family has been saying (they have been saying that I can't do it, not with school and work, both full time). I am going to have to wait another year, put off Oxford another year!!!!!!!!!! Because they only take 1st time graduate students for the fall only. I could always try another school, but it's the opportunity to go to England, live over there, and have OXFORD on my resume!

I am sorry all, but I don't have a ton of friends here in the south, they all live up north or in another country and I don't really have anybody to rant to. WHY ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There should be a law that allows you to retake college for free after prooving them that you missed because you got sick! You can always say ''It's your country's fault! I want my money back!'' ... I have a friend that is always sick and because of that, she has almost no futur ... sucks, cause she is the smartest girl I know -_- Life's unfair ... I hope you find the strength to heal

ahh...its ok. All you have to do is just keep your chin up, wipe the tears, and just keep on trudgin. You only have up to look at. You still have a long life ahead of you, and dont let this misfortune bring that long life down a notch. You just gotta put it behind you, and get workin!

First, hello from a newbie. And second of all, *hugs* When I read your post, I immediately thought of a friend of mine. She went through the same thing last year--she was supposed to go to Oxford, but she was very sick and could not go. She basically felt the same way you do now. Although I haven't been in your situation, I can definitely see how hard this must be for you.

Hope your surgery goes well, and that you're feeling up-to-par soon. Take care.
