every day hundreds of boy-girl friendships are ruined because of one stupid thing. . . . .. dating. i am friends with this guy, we'll call him joe. . ..i really like joe as a friend. . .i feel that i can be open with him and he can make me laugh. . ..and whenever i talked to him i didn't get that feeling like, omigod do i like him?!?!?!? no that never happened. . . .i considered him one of my close guy friends. . . . .today we walked out of our homeroom together like usual. . . .i told him what i did this weekend and he told me about him playing guitars with his friends. . . .as we came to our usual splitting point, i was in mid sentence and he says hey will you go out with me? i was speechless. . . .i had never thought of him as anything more than a friend. . . .i stood there for about 3 seconds until i finally said "uh. . .let me get back to you on that" i said it with a smile so that i wouldn't hurt him as much ya kno? so he says ok and leaves. . . .blake walks up behind me and him and joe are good friends so i said to him, did you kno he was going to ask me out? and blake says who? and i said joe, ya kno little joe? and blake looked shocked then disgusted and says no and leaves. . .

what do you do when this happens? i don't think joe has ever had a girlfriend and i don't kno if he's even asked anyone else out before. . . .the worst part is, after he asked me, he went home because he was "sick". . . . .i feel horrible . . . ..i don't want to say yes and feel that i did the wrong thing, but i just don't have the heart to say no .. . . . .

See, guys complain cause girls lead them on or aren't straight-forward. Granted from now on no mater what you do you and Joe may be wierd cause he broke down the friendship wall.

But at least if he continues to persue you you already told him you weren't interested. You can still accept cute lil' gifts and go places with him just like don't hold his hand or accept any gifts with "I Love You" etched or embroidered on them.

If you fail to keep him at a distance then one day he'll snap and be like, "But all those times you lead me on." Chances are he'll say that one day but if you take my advice you can say, "I Never lead you on. Everytime you said 'I love you' I responded with a sigh and 'shaddup."

Don't worry about Joe's feelings...If Joe can't handle a little rejection then he'll never learn (Look who's talking?) don't give him a pity date cause your friendship will be ruined cause EVERY time you get a new boyfriend a stick will crawl up his ass and die...Then everytime ya break up he'll *comfort* you.

Well, being another guy in this situation before, I think that the first thing you did was a no no. Delaying your answer might not have been the best thing to do, but now it all depends on him. Tell him straight foreward the next time that you just want to be friends. If he can't accept that, then it's his loss, and not your fault for ruining the friendship. But, If he still wants to be friends, don't be weirded out because he did ask you out. Just carry on like you did before.

Either way, things will happen it it'll all be good.

i have ot agree. I did basically the same exact thing that ur friend joe did, cept that i did it with a little less of the "Will you go out thing" and just: "Would u like to see the matrix tonight with me?"

She told me straight out the next day after the movie, that she wanted to just be friends. And well, im glad she did. Im quite cool with that. Maybe your friend joe will act differently, but who knows. Life IS like a box of chocolates...you never know what your gonna get.
