BEWARE... SAPPY MATERIAL AHEAD
Women, you will appreciate this.
Men, you may get some ideas.
Everyone, No I am not a big fan of Valentine's Day, but I am a big fan of making Skibirdi happy!
Well Skibirdi and I had our Valentine's Day as more of a weekend, and it all started with me getting off work early on Friday so I could prepare.
When I left work, I stopped at home to pick something up and headed to the mall. Destination, Wolf Camera to get a colleague frame and print some digi pix of her and I to put in it. Well while walking toward Wolf Camera, I past the Build-a-Bear work shop. They had the cutest little white bear with red hearts all over it. But Build-a-Bear takes about 20 mins to get your bear. So I told the woman that was showing me how it works that I would come back.
So I went to Wolf Camera and wouldn't you know it... they can't accept a USB flash drive to get pictures off of to print. So the sent me over to the Apple (Mac) Store to ask them to burn them on a cd for me. So I did that. Got the pix on a CD and went back to Wolf Camera and gave them the CD and asked them to print the pix for me. They said it would take about 40 mins. Perfect, time for me to do the rest of my stuff.
I went to Publix and got 3 dozen roses. One dozen white, one red, and one that was like a yellow-dark pink mix. I also got a balloon and 3 boxes of chocolate.
My first stop... AppleTree learning center, Skibirdi's place of employment. She had been having a really bad week and this was my chance to cheer her up. She was doing the afterschool program and I knew she wouldn't be at the front desk. They keep the door locked so I rang the doorbell praying that She wouldn't answer the door. No one did actually. Then I saw one of the other employee's answer the phone (Amy). So I knocked on the door and she let me in. I told her "I'm Minah's boyfriend, you can't let her know I'm here." She agreed and the first dozen flowers was dropped off. The white roses were left with a note from me to her. I ran out and hoped she didn't see me.
My second stop... Skibirdi's apartment. I pulled up and went into the apartment and immediately when you walk in the first thing you see is part of the kitchen counter. So that's where I left the second dozen roses, the balloon, and 2 boxes of chocolate (one of them should have been left with the white roses, but I was so worried about her catching me, I totally forgot). Second stop complete. Back to the mall to get my pictures...
I got my pix and a really nice frame for them and headed back to the Build-a-Bear workshop. Wouldn't you know it, they were sold out of the white bear when I got back. Great, well now I want one... so I looked around on the wall and within 15 seconds, I saw a purple bear with a cancer ribbon on it's foot. That was all I needed to see. Even if they did have the white one, I still would have gotten this one. Well I'll try to run through this really quick. They first let you put sound in the bear. They had 3 types... one that had 1 prerecorded quote on it, one that had 6 prerecorded on it, and one where you could record yourself. Up to 10 seconds. Damn... I want to get the 6 voices and I want to record one of my own. "So get both" The woman helping me said. I can do that? Awesome! That's exactly what I did. I put one in one and one in the other hand of the bear. Then they stuffed it to my liking, put the little heart in it (how cute) and sewed it up for me. Then you go to a computer and name it. While I was doing this, I needed Minah's address, well I couldn't remember it, so I called her apartment in hopes that her sister would pick up the phone. SHE DID! Oh man you don't know how unusual that is. I got her address and told her sister to call me when Minah left there to go to my place, hung up with her and not 1 minute later Minah called me... she got the first dozen roses. I asked her "How are you?" and she replied "doing much better now!" We talked a little while I finished up the "birth certificate." She asked me where I was, and I told her "Oh I'm on my way home" then hit enter on the computer a couple of times. When "SkiBeari's" (She loved that name by the way) birth certificate was done, I got in line to pay, and she called me again and the woman checking me out was killing herself not to die laughing b/c of what I was doing. She was still at appletree and still doesn't know what's waiting for her at her apartment.
So I get the bear and start to head home. I'm about 5 mins from home when I get another call from Minah. She was home now and had gotten the second dozen roses. I picked up the phone only to hear her laughing hysterically. She kept saying "You got me, You got me." And thanked me over and over. So I had to throw her off even more right. I said "that's why I needed to know if you were going home or coming straight to my place, I had to know where to put the other dozen roses." She said one more time "Well you got me! I didn't expect this." We hung up and I continued home... I was thinking to myself, Minah you have no idea!
When I got home, I set up the rest. I put up the picture frame, put the last dozen roses in a vase, knowing she was going to bring the other 2 dozen with her to my house, took the bear out of his little "house" and put the last box of chocolates in the bears hands. And topped it off with another note.
I got dressed for the dinner we were about to go to and got the call that she was on her way. When she got there, I had the camera ready. She was so surprised I actually got like 3 pictures of her in shock. Then went to greet her, and the tears began (good tears of course). At that point, I knew I had done it. I had really gotten her good.
I took a picture of her with all of her presents and she again thanked me like crazy followed by several "I love you"s.
That night we went to dinner and to a comedy club.
Saturday I made her breakfast in bed and Saturday night we went to dinner again.
So all and all, it went 100% as planned and was well worth it!
Hope you enjoyed. |

Yeah Shino, on the other hand Kiyomi and I didn't have such a good time. This year I was on standby which means I can't really leave the house too long. Then she had to work during the weekend. She's a waitress. Well just when I thought it was a total flop I get this email to go to her website and find something amazing.

Man that's really something what you gave to your love on Valentine's day! I'll note that and learn from Teh CasaShinova ... or Casabishino... or ... ya know, so yeah I hope I'll be able to offer something like that to my love one day! |

Man, you really went all out. Amber and I just went out to eat and cuddled up to a movie and popcorn. But that must have cost a bloody fortune though! There nothing chibi about the hole that puts on your pocket book. |
