I just found out that one of the people on my livejournal friends list has lukemia.

While that's a bit of a shock by itself, one of her friends has made a request for some cards or writings to be sent to her while she's in the hospital. I'd like to do something, but I'm not really sure what I could write about or send.

I figured the PO people would probably have a clue. Suggestions, please?

Well I personally don't always agree with showering with gifts and stuff because sometimes it feels to the patients that you are sort of scared and avoiding them.

Something I have noticed from alot of my terminal patients is that they like simplicity. maybe a card then if possible visit or call and just be the same you are as always

and I am very sorry to hear that by the way

Well, visit's a bit hard since she's in the UK and I'm Stateside. I'd send her a card, but I'm not sure what the rates are on international postage, and whether she'd get it in the hospital. So I'm at a bit of a loss what to do...

I've heard that air mail postage is 80 cents...but don't quote me on that. Perhaps you can send the card to her friend, and she can give it to her?

That's possible as well. Although I'm not really sure what to write in a get-well message for soemthing like that.

It's like Wok said: simplicity is the key. You don't have to clutter up a card with a lot of fancy words or anything like that, just tell them how you feel, that you wish them a speedy recovery, that you'd be sad to see them go, whatever is in your heart. They will understand what you mean.

Well, since I broached the subject, I figure it deserves it's final update.

It's become a moot point. I did send something off, which I hope she received, but today, I found out that she had passed on to the afterlife. Thanks for the advice, people. And now, rest in peace, Selena.
