CPU: AMD 5000+ Black Edt OCed to 3.2Ghz
RAM: 4Gb (4x1GB)
Video: BFG 8800GT OC
Power Supply: Thermaltake 1000w
HDDs: 2x Raptor 150GB RAID 0
Undecided on
Motherboard: nForce7 but they arn't due out until January
Case: no idea
CPU fan: no idea
Optical: something that burns DVDs and is SATA
I don't need a realtivly Huge case I might eventaually decide to go SLI I'm not sure yet. I went AMD with the plans of getting a quad core later to take advantage of the AM2+ socket and eventually maybe an AM3 chip without having to change out mobos. Also designing some parts to be modular so that I can take account for future hardware.
I'm thinking about this as my case

1000watts is ridiculous. Rock on, brother!
I rebuilt mine a few weeks ago and decided on just a 600w , going for storage space as my base (over 100 gigs, total). 1000w and I could run my house too. |

Well I want a PSU that will last a good long while. My current box has a 500w It's okay but if I ever expanded and wanted to go SLI it just would be no beuno. I was originally going to run Vista on it but looking at current gaming bench marks I've decided not too.

By experience, I can say this: We all say "I'm gonna go SLI one day" but we never actually get around to do it. It's usually cheaper to get a better graphics card than slap on two together. Unless you plan on running Crysis st several million pixels resolution, might as well go for quality-price. Hell, I played BF2142 at 800x600 for a good while and I did just fine.
Right now, my rig has the mobo, three hard drives, an optical drive, a good graphics card, and my 650W PSU is more than enough to handle it. |
