You have to be a chatter on IRC to understand how these can be funny. Generally, people on IRC fall into three groups: The lurkers, who idle all the time; the operators, who kick ass and make fun of n00bs; and finally the n00bs, clueless little idiots who will obey to your every command no matter how outlandish it seems.
Just at the channel #psow, we got someone to format his hard drive, got someone else to corrupt his character file on an RPG, got countless people to inadvertendly quit the channel, and kick-banned several more on sight. After a bit of time, we learned that those who fall into the n00b category are lazy, stupid, don't know jack about English or computers, never read the fucking manual, and will go into chatrooms for a quick fix on their questions. Because n00bs are complete morons, they will follow all your instructions to the letter and will never question you. Those guys don't even deserve to live. One n00b alone can bring down the average IQ of an entire city by 25 points. Thus, we laugh at their idiocies, their misfortunes, their mistakes, and we sure laugh like hell when we eliminate one. |

'S a bit sadistic, isn't it? While there are people who fit that description exceedingly well, there are others who are genuinely confused about things, looking for help, and probably get more than a little frustrated when all they see are mods laughing at them, giving them kickbans and being unhelpful.
No wonder I'm subconsciously nervous whenever I set foot on IRC... |

I just don't go on IRC myself...I think it's just a Canadian thing..We in America have advanced FAR beyond that old craptastic system...Nowadays we have cell phones that allow us to type "POOP" and send it to anyone we please for hours of personal enjoyment. |
