Yep, watchin it now. It's a sad state of affairs. But I'd be more concerned about a LARGE chunk of ship hitting Dallas. |

Whoa. First the hostage crisis in Miami yesterday, then this. I can only hope that it wasn't containing a certain Lee Morin, my dad's roomate at boarding school and current astronaut. |

Rest easy, Cal -- Morin was not one of the 7 astronauts lost aboard Columbia this morning, at least according to CNN's list. And, uh, Nacht? What do you mean "too bad it wasn't a REAL spaceship"? |

Strangely, I'm with natch on that one, well ... OK I don't beleive it was an alien spaceship, but I just have trouble beleiving that it's truely spaceshuttle Columbia that blew over our head there ... smell teh conspiraty I tell ya
What if all that was planned? What if what desindegrated in teh atmosphere happened to be the rest of a big freakin Taliban SCUD missle that had been neutrelised by some american counter-missle and that the "big guys up there" didn't expect that the debris would be THAT visible so they pretended that it was space shuttle colombia ... or maybe it was one experimental planes they trew there and failed to acomplish it's task (which could have been just to get out of atmosphere and return). Think about it, saying that it WAS space shuttle colombia out there is a resonable excuse, after all ,like they kept on mentioning thousands of times at CNN, the shuttle was real old and it had already done about 28 flights. Seems logical that it could have just "broke there" ...
LIES! All we see is nothing but burning fireballs desintegrating in the atmosphere ... then, once on the ground, the area will be forbiden for all media coverage OR there will already have some well selected part of the "supposly crashed n destroyed" colombia shuttle that will be showed to the media so that the population can "rest easy" ... hey, I can make a fake peice of shuttle here in my lil home sweet home, the NASA and bush can make beleive ANYTHIHNG THEY F****** WANT TO ANYONE! Media is power, money is power, and "some people" happen to own both, they also happen to be more dangerous that we might think, because they might be powerfull, but there a bunch of amateurs unaware of the corruptive power they posessed and unaware of the impact all there crapy decisions can have on the people ...
Feel better now |

riiiiiight...anyway...
i fell asleep last night watching Craig Kilborn, and then i was having this really strange dream where i was teaching a high-school english course about Uncle Tom's Cabin, which i've never read, and my younger sister was in the class, and i was terrified because how am i supposed to teach them about a book when i haven't even read it myself!? and then i woke up to Dan Rather showing home videos of the accident and i was convinced that it was yet another messed up dream for about two or three minutes...it's strange because on 9/11 i was woken up by my roommate coming back from class, who had just heard and i thought that was a dream too.
anyway, it's extremely tragic. on the bright side, their mission was incredibly successful and they were all fully aware of the dangers inherent in spaceflight. as Gus Grishom said before boarding the Apollo 1 rocket, "If anything happens to us we want the program to move forward. The conquest of space is worth the risk of human life." There was a fire in the cockpit during the launch sequence and he died on the launch pad, but the Apollo missions eventually got us to the moon. Similarly, the Challenger accident didn't stop the shuttle program, and i have no doubt that this tragedy will only provide a greater resolve within NASA to overcome future challenges.
