The GA Renfest Takeover! (Updated again! Last time!)

Righto. I'm starting this now simply because getting things organized can often take a long time, and it's never to early to start, right? ^_^ <3

Every year, I have a huge birthday trip to the Georgia Renaissance Festival. Usually I get almost the entire PMS group to go with me, and we all have a blast. This year won't be any different, except that a few PO's have voiced an interest in going to Ren. Fest...

It'll be my twenty-first birthday, so I figured, hell, why not go all out and have them come with us, right? So, anyone who's interested in going, here are the details:

When: Saturday, May 28th

Where: http://www.garenfest.com/ has the most information as far as directions. If you all lived up in -Northern- Georgia rather than the Atlanta region, I'd say we could all meet up at my place and then drive down there, but it's actually closer for you guys if you leave straight from your houses in teh South. Still, there are directions there, and really it's not all -that- complicated to get to.

How much?: I really can't afford to get tickets for everybody. If I could, I would. Sadly, you're on your own. Tickets are 15 dollars unless we get 15 people going, and then we get a stunning 12 dollar per person as a group rate. Which doesn't impress me terribly and I don't expect to happen, but I thought I'd mention it anyways. Who knows, it might. My family's going as well, afterall.

Food's another thing. It's relatively expensive there, so you might want to bring some snacks with you that either aren't perishable or in a cooler (it is -always- hot on Renfest days, now that they're during the spring/summer only) and then leave to eat if you're worried about costs. If not, there's plenty of stuff there-- http://www.garenfest.com/fooddrink.htm has a list, so you can see if there's anything you'll eat, though I'm sure you will. Afterall, if -I- can find things to eat at Ren. Fest, anyone can.

Also, there are a lot of different shows that go on there. http://www.garenfest.com/entertainmentnew.htm -- has a list of them. If there are any that look interesting to you, let me know and I'll see if I can't arrange some sort of schedule. I won't guarantee there won't be any splitting the group up to get everyone to see what they want or do what they want, but at least it'll be more organized than our usual "OMG that looks cool, let's do that!" "Waaaah! I missed Hack and Slash!" stuff.

As far as costuming goes, I will be dressed up, I can assure you. However, most people do -not-. I do it because it's fun and I can sort of pretend to be part of the 'cast' (the employees and random people all dress in costume) and interact with people that way. A lot of my friends dress up, too. You will not, however, be out of place if you don't have a costume.

FREELOADER CARD: If you have one of these babies, you can get another person into Ren. Fest free. The site is here and you can apply for free. I figure this is actually a -lot- more effective than just the group rate (which is relatively unimpressive.). This card also gets you in free to other cool stuff during the year, and is just a really neat thing to have.

All you have to do is go to the site, click on Freeloader, and then click on Apply and the first option (assuming you don't already have a card, of course). And then we're good to go. We'll sort out the rest of the details when we get there.


Updates:

Carpooling is of the good.

I can take two other people.

If you feel you might need to leave early, make sure that whoever you're carpooling with will be willing to go home early too, or that you are driving yourself. I know that -I- will not be leaving until around six-thirty or so, so anybody riding with me who needs to go home earlier than that must find a willing vic..er...another ride.

MEETING TIME UPDATE: Meet at Shino's house by eight-thirty if you're doing the whole shebang. That is, 10:00 AM until 6:30 PM when they kick you out of the pub. If not, PM me or post here for my cell phone number so we can meet up whenever you do get there.

Bring food, bring sunscreen, I'll bring the water bottles. XDDDDDD

I know there was this special last year that if you showed your 99x freeloader card it was two tickets for the price of one. It they run the same deal again that could help a bit for large groups.

Ren fest is so much fun! and its great if you come in costume heh so you can act with the actors . Last year a few people asked me if our group worked there ^_^+2 .. I am serously thinking about it. but who knows ^^

I wish I had time to work there, but next sememster is going to be busy. I have Dr. McFarland for one class or another everyday for an hour and a half. I love the man but I fear I may lose my mind.

My friend Catherine though actually performs there. SHE IS SO LUCKY.

Ohhhh I can't wait!!! It's goona be like the First year we went!!! Oh the possiabilities!! I'm soo dressing up!! Everyone who is going should dress up, it is A LOT more fun when you do!! Kind of like Dragon Con or AWA, you don' t have to, but it is sooo much more fun when you do!! PLus, you can play along with the people who work there and whatever plot is going on for that day.

I've disliked Renfairs ever since they turned the turkey legs into ham and still call them Turkey.

And they got rid of Honey Meade! For the love of crap they sell Coronas and Budwieser!
