Hey guys. If anyone's been following the "Trials of the Pure" Roleplay you know that Musashi and Co. were able to look into the Fountain of Seeing, a mystical fountain within the Holy Temple that has the power of showing the past, present, future, and inner souls of those who look into it. I thought this was a neat idea, and I'd like to see everyone else's interpretations of what they would see. Hence, this post. Everyone post what you would see if you looked into the Fountain. As an example, I'll post one of Musashi's visions from Trials. Go check out trials if you'd like to read what some of the others saw.
Anyway, here's my vision...
Musashi peered into the water, seeing his reflection. From below the surface he saw himself, but he stood without his dragon armor or helm, only wearing a royal purple garment covered by a brilliant gold breastplate. In the reflection, Musashi could see the crest of the silver crescent moon emblazoned on his forehead, normally covered by his helm. The crest, the birthmark of his family and symbol of the time elementals, the chosen people of the dragons. Atop his head in the image, Musashi wore a light crown of silver. He was arrayed in a royal purple cape with white trim held on by crescent moon clasps. He held a scepter in his hand where Luminaire was reflected. His eyes looked older and wiser, but a sense of sadness could be seen in them.
The real Musashi removed his helm and felt the crest of the crescent moon on his forehead, but quickly replaced it as he mumbled to himself.
However, as he continued staring, slowly his visage changed. His hair changed to silver, but the crest of the crescent moon remained on his head. His skin grew pale, so pale the reflection looked like a ghost. The royal arrayment was changed to depict dark navy mirror-like armor. The cape turned from purple to black trimmed in Navy. Where once a royal scepter of justice was held, there now appeared a dark double-edged mythril sword, a sword that would rule the land with an iron will. The eyes of the reflection looked grim and stern peering deep within Musashi as if they might burn a hole within his soul. Musashi could sense malice radiating from this image. Shocked by this, he jumped back and the image vanished. |

Phayne stood a few feet from the pool, weary, anxious, and even a tad unnerved. He had come a long way since being Steryn's apprentice and the one thing he did not want to see when he looked into that fount was Steryns face where his should be. He had suffered innumerable and unexplainable trials to become what or who he was now. The Shadokastur.
Was it just a title he had bestowed upon himself or did he really meet the Creator and discover his true purpose in this world? Maybe their meeting only took place in his head and there was no purpose to this collosal accident called mankind.
He began to shake a little, realizing the depths of his own uncertainty. The same uncertainty that led him to destroy so many things, so many lives, seemed to be slowly creeping into his mind again. To recreate its' mind again. It whispered his name: 'Phayne'. Phayne snapped to attention quickly and his head spun back and forth to find the sounds' origin. 'No one there.' he thought. 'Of course there isn't.' he assured himself.
He allowed himself a quick, confident laugh as he regained his composure. He glanced to the smooth surface of the fountain and strode over to it. 'Nothing to fear...' he spoke as he leaned over to face his destiny. But there it was, as he had feared, Steryn's cold compassionless eyes glared back at him. He tried to avert his sight but the magic of the fountain had absorbed his will and he could not turn his head away. The vision moved out from Steryn's eyes to show his full
figure. He was kneeled over, burned and bleeding heavily from many gaping wounds. The scope of the scene grew, and as it did, Phayne saw himself just as he was as he stood there gazing into the fountains entrancing waters. His long pristine robes had only been slightly burned from what appeared to have been an epic battle. Steryn mumbled something, inaudible through the water, and Phayne's alter self unleashed a blast of eldritch energies that consumed his old teachers' frail frame to ash. The crowd who stood nearby proclaimed him a hero and hoisted him onto their shoulders. Phayne couldn't believe his eyes. Was this his future? Or was it some projection of his own? Was he really destined to finally destroy the man who awoke in him the destructive power and consuming hatred of the Everdark? He left his question and returned his attention to the water. The surface was disturbed as the next vision appeared. The tiny wavelets muddled the picture but he swore that he could see himself wearing an ethereal crown and holding a ghostly scepter. He reached toward a sword shining a brilliant and near-blinding light. It was the King'sword, the very same divine blade that had cleaved the Shadow Of Neverthere and severed the threads of Mourner the Downcast, and it was to be his!! But just before his hand could grasp it, his own shadow grew deeper and larger than his light could fend off, and it swallowed him whole, leaving him looking no different on the outside but its evil presence could be felt in the cold damp air it exuded. He felt it speak to his body and mock his powers for they were also as its' disposal. The more powerful he got the same was so for this creature, this parasite of sorts that he carried around with him in his heart. He saw his jaw clench and his hands close as if crushing something in their grip. The pain was unbearable and overwhelming. As Phayne watched, the memories of his last battle with it, a battle that HE lost, replayed in his head. His recollection of the pain, the chaos, the fear were all as lucid as if he were reliving them. And to a certain extant, he was. He was a powerful warlock the first time he and this creature met and his failure at that point caused destruction so vast that the Gods had intervened to stop him and ultimately exiled him, stripped of his powers. He was many times more powerful then he had been in their previous encounter, powerful enough now to return from the God's banishment with little difficulty. If this mirror was correct and this was his fate, 'he should leave and spare the innocents' he thought. But he quickly realized it was of no use for where ever he went this thing would go to.
The water calmed for a brief moment and a voice was heard very clearly. Soft, feminine, and pervaded by a profound tone of trust and admiration, the voice preceded its owner by only a few steps. The door to the sword chamber opened and a woman carrying a baby walked into the mirrors' depiction. She smiled as she cooed at the infant, its tiny hand clutching her finger. ' I just thought you'd want to say goodnight to him before I laid him down.' she said with pride and love. Then, she looked up, and her expression changed to one of terror and concern. 'Darling, are you alright?' she lulled. Phayne watched his alter self as he screamed a thunderous 'NO!' and resigned the lady and child to the same fate as he had Steryn. The vacuum that followed the blast swept the ashes out of the new hole in the Citadel's wall and into the night winds. The fountains waters grew dark and the visions ended. Phayne hung his head as a tear fell from his chin into the vatic pool. He solemnly turned to leave and the whisper came again 'Phayne'. He stopped for a moment, looked over his shoulder toward the fountain and muttered, 'No, I am Shadokastur.'
Please excuse the length, but I was very inspired.
Thanks Musashi.

Awesome story man! I take it this is an introduction to a forthcoming PO? Perhaps going to be continued in the RP forums? Sounds like you have a cool character in mind. Hurry up and get your PO so you can join us in one of the roleplays.
*Bump* I think this topic kinda got swallowed up in the mass of Whatever topics. Heh, maybe I should have put it under fanworks. Oh well, anyone else feel inspired? |

Yeah Mu (I can call you Mu right?), the story is actually about my name: shadokastur. I didn't realize that you were supposed to intro your CHARACTER in the rookie forum so I put info about me (DUH!). So I guess in all actuality this should be in the Intro forum but you just happened to give me the inspiration. So thanks man!!!
Sincerely,
Ganesa and his pet elephant, Shadokastur.

Tobias *explodes*

Tobias peers into the fountain...only something strange happens. The pool shows only himself. Nothing changes, not his appearence, or his features. He just remains himself, as if saying that he has no future, or that his future was not yet determined. With he though of this, he looked back, to see his hat was no longer there, and that his hair was silver again. He had known that the image represented his ultimate sage self. When he went to feel his head, he noticed that his hat was still on, but in the reflection, he was caressing his hair. He also noticed that his eyes had changed too, that they had also reverted to their ultimate selves, to the color of silver. Then, the image reverted back to his normal self. And that was the end of Tobias' viewing through the fountain of seeing. could it be fate, that says that Tobias has none, or could it be that the Fountain did not want to show the amazing warrior his future, for the reason that he was not ready to see his future. Or could it be that the young Tobias did not have a future at the moment, but it would be shaped from events to come. Only time will tell for the young gaurdian of the whole world: Land, air, and sea. |
