Yeah, so I felt like it.
#1 - Put the following features of a racing game in order, starting with the one you consider the most important.
A - Several racing modes
B - Several cars
C - Ability to customize your car visually
D - Ability to tune the car's mechanics (spring rate, gears etc.)
E - Several tracks
F - Ability to create your own tracks
G - Ability to play online
#2 - What would you rather race?
A - Exotic cars (Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz, etc.)
B - Tuner cars (Honda, Acura, Toyota, etc.)
#3 - Put the following track styles in order, starting with the type you'd like to race the most.
A - Downtown streets
B - Rural roads
C - Mountain passes
D - Offroad
E - Freeways
F - Rallye tracks
G - Pro circuit tracks
#4 - We're putting a way to tune your car in the game. What would you prefer?
A - A basic menu, easy to handle and allowing me to quickly setup my ride.
B - An advanced menu, where I can fine-tune the car in its smallest details.
#5 - How do you feel about having several editions of the same car model in the game? (i.e.: Like all 8 generations of the Mitsubishi Lancer)
A - I like it. Each car has its own special characteristics.
B - It's useless. It's like putting the same car several times and giving it different names.
#6 - It happens that you must pay a monthly fee to play the game online. Do you agree?
A - No (Explain)
B - Yes (Explain)
#7 - How do you feel about unlocking cars, tracks and parts?
A - It's all right.
B - It's okay, but if I had the option to unlock everything from the bat, I'd do it.
C - To hell with unlocking, I'd rather have everything readily available.
#8 - How realistic do you want the cars to be? Go on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being completely arcade-style, and 10 being life-like car handling and physics.
#9 - We have to build a world for the races to occur in. And that means shops, businesses, etc. How do you feel about product placement?
A - Feature fictional brands and businesses.
B - Put in real brands and businesses.
#10 - We are thinking of inputting a car skinning tool in the game. THE tool that allows you to custom-paint your car bumper to bumper down to the minute pixel. Unfortunately, that means we'll have to take off the SECOND most important feature you mentioned in question #1 (and if you said ability to customize visually, remove the third feature then) Would you like it?
A - No. Keep the feature I want in there.
B - Yes. Sacrify the feature, I'd like skinning my ride better.
#11 - A major flaw has been uncovered in the game, allowing players to exploit it and have unlimited amounts of money. It can't be patched. What's your stance?
A - I play anyways.
B - I quit the game.
#12 - A major flaw has been uncovered in the game, allowing players to exploit it and be able to run their cars at incredible speeds. It can't be patched. What's your stance?
A - I play anyways.
B - I quit the game.
#13 - We're thinking of making the game broadband-only. What's your stance?
A - Go ahead. Save us from laggy dial-up users.
B - No! Let the dial-up users have their fun too.
#14 - Word filter. Yes or no?
A - Yes, include a word filter.
B - No, don't include one.
#15 - Which type of cars would you prefer to drive in the game? Put them in order of importance, starting with the most important.
A - Coupe/sports
B - Hatchback
C - Retro
D - Luxury
E - SUV
F - Pickup
G - Economy compact (Geo Metro, Suzuki Swift, etc.)
H - Concepts & prototypes
I - Minivans
J - Professional GT cars
K - Station Wagon
L - Regular sedan
#16 - Real cars, yes or no?
A - Yes, use real car models.
B - No, use something with a striking resemblance, but not the actual existing models.
C - No, use completely fictional cars.
#17 - Penalties for losing?
A - Yes, you lose cash when you lose a race.
B - Yes, you lose reputation points/score/something that describes your skill other than a win-lose ratio.
C - No, don't put losing penalties.
#18 - There are slight inconsistencies in the game (such as driving in China with a Californian license plate) What's your stance?
A - It's unacceptable.
B - It's annoying, but I play anyways.
C - I don't care.
#19 - Right now, the game is on PC. We're thinking of extending to consoles. Unfortunately, this will remove any and all visual customization options except bumpers, side skirts, spoilers and basic color. What's your stnace?
A - I don't want to lose customization like that. Stay on PC!
B - Make console versions but use separate servers so that I can keep my customization.
C - Make a console version, I'd rather have more players on the server to play with. |

I like my variety -- Throw 'em all in, and then go make up your own cars!

D - Little o' both. Some real, some unreal.

Great poll idea! I loves me the racing games so here's my interests:
#1 - Put the following features of a racing game in order, starting with the one you consider the most important.
A - Several cars
B - Several tracks
C - Several racing modes
D - Ability to customize your car visually
E - Ability to tune the car's mechanics (spring rate, gears etc.)
F - Ability to create your own tracks
G - Ability to play online
#2 - What would you rather race?
Tuner cars (Honda, Acura, Toyota, etc.)
#3 - Put the following track styles in order, starting with the type you'd like to race the most.
A - Downtown streets
B - Rural roads
C - Mountain passes
D - Offroad
E - Freeways
F - Rally tracks
G - Pro circuit tracks
(No preference)
#4 - We're putting a way to tune your car in the game. What would you prefer?
A basic menu, easy to handle and allowing me to quickly setup my ride.
#5 - How do you feel about having several editions of the same car model in the game? (i.e.: Like all 8 generations of the Mitsubishi Lancer)
It's useless. It's like putting the same car several times and giving it different names.
#6 - It happens that you must pay a monthly fee to play the game online. Do you agree?
No (Explain)
When online cheating gets fully policed and programming outgrows the "Lazy Era" of Broadband only (Dreamcast had 56k gaming and the PS2 community can't?) then I'd look at pay-per-play seriously.
#7 - How do you feel about unlocking cars, tracks and parts?
It's okay, but if I had the option to unlock everything from the bat, I'd do it.

No preference unless using real brands drops the retail game price (which it should but never does).
No. Keep the feature I want in there.
#11 - A major flaw has been uncovered in the game, allowing players to exploit it and have unlimited amounts of money. It can't be patched. What's your stance?
If it's not online then this has little importance as you'd just be cheating yourself anyways.
#12 - A major flaw has been uncovered in the game, allowing players to exploit it and be able to run their cars at incredible speeds. It can't be patched. What's your stance?
See #11.
#13 - We're thinking of making the game broadband-only. What's your stance?
See #6
#14 - Word filter. Yes or no?
No, don't include one.
#15 - Which type of cars would you prefer to drive in the game? Put them in order of importance, starting with the most important.
A - Coupe/sports
B - Retro
C - Station Wagon
D - SUV
E - Pickup
F - Regular sedan
G - Minivans
H - Luxury
I - Concepts & prototypes
J - Hatchback
K - Economy compact (Geo Metro, Suzuki Swift, etc.)
L - Professional GT cars
#16 - Real cars, yes or no?
No preference unless #15 is accurate then it would be a Hell Ya!.
#17 - Penalties for losing?
Yes, you lose reputation points/score/something that describes your skill other than a win-lose ratio.
#18 - There are slight inconsistencies in the game (such as driving in China with a Californian license plate) What's your stance?
I don't care.
#19 - Right now, the game is on PC. We're thinking of extending to consoles. Unfortunately, this will remove any and all visual customization options except bumpers, side skirts, spoilers and basic color. What's your stance?
Make console versions but use separate servers so that I can keep my customization. |

It costs a shitload to make the game and costs another to run it online. I have no objections to paying to play a quality game online should their be cheat protection in place.
