American Idiot: The Movie?

I heard a rumor last night on the radio that Green Day may be considering making a movie based off their recent album, American Idiot. The album has been considered as a "rock opera" like a number of classic albums before it, such as Tommy by The Who...and I'm assuming that's where the inspiration is coming from.

I, for one, and totally for it. Green Day is an incredible band that has come a long way since they're first album in (I think...) 1990, and they have culminated their career with American Idiot, which is incredible.

On top of that, I think that my generation really needs a definitive rock movie, like previous generations have had. There was a Grateful Dead movie, all the Beatles movies, Pink Floyd's The Wall, Tommy...and to a lesser extent the Rocky Horror Picture Show and Spinal Tap. It's about time someone makes GOOD music movie for US.

I, for one, do not want the definitive music movies of my generation to be Spiceworld and 8 Mile.
