also titled....
There is no rainbow!
This is set in a coffee house...
There is no rainbow
I have something to ask
says the man in the back
in his sweaters and slacks
The people snicker as
he walks to the stage
they'd rather tear out this page
Every merry day, I awake from my merry bed
and pour my coffee to be on my merry way
Yet everyday I see the same people
standing in the same imaginary line
The faces are blank as I look at their world
I can barely tell if the're boy or the're girl
Most everyday I would pass them by
not even a glance or a glimpse from my eye
But not this day I said to myself curiously
I demanded results to my questions quite furiously
I step in back and start to lose color
but even in this state the regulars are far duller
I tap on the shoulder of the being in front of me
who has apparently been since around '93
I demand his attention
and recieve no comprehension
"What is here that you're all waiting for? What could be this theme?"
"Is it some life truth, a message, or maybe ice cream??"
I recieve no reply
merely the pale faced stranger chose to stand-by
To my suprise another merry man walks by
He looks to me and asks me why
I step out of the line to confront this inquisition
The stranger tells me this line was once his tradition
He the reveals to me the secret of the assembly
He tells me they are all waiting for their movie moment
their fantasy to finally come true, but it never came
because the blank faces are chasing the impossible dream
I start to stutter as I forgot to rhyme that last verse
I hope that the listeners pray not for a curse
Though I should follow so now that we're at end
I shall bow my head humbly and make my amend
I turn to the crowd
and I shout aloud
"THERE IS NO RAINBOW...NO POT OF GOLD"
"Or so I am told from the men of old....."
It is quite clear from their faces that they feel quite tragic
Then I smile, tip my hat and say "Now go make your own magic"
The End

4 words come to my mind when I think of this work.
Inspiring, profound, true and enlightening.
It vehiculates a nice message, a "bubble bursting" message, but still, in the end it can only help. For I believe ignorance is NOT bliss ... |
