Well, it started like every other training day. Trying to find a nice out of the way place, Silver came across a good-looking valley. After several exercises and spars, he thought it would be a good idea to go home for lunch and see what he could do in the afternoon.
Well, you see, certain types of magic are very finicky about syllable count and words used, so the incantation to move him from one place to another technically says, "Move the person inhabiting this space to the place I wish." Which normally doesn't give him any problems, because he's usually the only person around that the spell could find.
And every other time he'd used it, he was sure there wasn't anyone around. Unfortunately for him, he didn't notice that he was standing on top of someone else's dwelling place. (Not to say that he could have found it, after all, it was pretty well-hidden)
But as it was, he incanted, and he felt someone else get pulled away from the place he was.
"@#$%. Stay here, Forcal, and see if the inhabitant comess back. I'm going to go try and find him/her."
Of course, with very little idea of what he was looking for, he could only hope thaat he'd get a glimpse of whomever it was. All he knew was this - he'd just disturbed a Drow. |

Needless to say, the Drow herself was more than a little put out by this. She found herself in a very strange territory indeed-- one she had never before been to, and was quite unlikely to enjoy being in. In fact, she was lucky that it was inside, and that most of the inhabitants of said territory seemed to be elsewhere, or there would have been even more of a disturbance.
Being Drow, she managed, just barely, to keep her calm. Part of her training as a child had included being able to mask her emotions, and she drew deeply on the very familiar parts of this training to avoid screaming at the top of her lungs and running to the nearest safe-looking corner to die in.
There were people outside the dwelling she was in. She could see them. They hadn't noticed her yet, and with her luck, they would continue in this fashion for quite some time. Still, it was difficult to think what she should do in this situation. Her first instinct was to run and hope for the best, as she had done in the Underdark, but there was no telling what an overground land like this might hold in it's forests, and whatever it was was unlikely to be as deterring as the horrors of the Underdark....so she would likely be chased if seen.
Not good.
Gathering her wits about her, the woman peered out the window, looking for a likely escape route. |

There was a popping sound upstairs as Silver reappeared inside his house.
Upstairs? Hmm. Maybe I was deflected by something. It's been a weird day for the magic.
Cautiously making his way to the top of the stairs, he called down.
"Hello? Is there seomeone here?" The fear radiating from the front door told him exactly where the Drow was, but that very same fear made him want to move cautiously. He hadn't met too many scared Drow. The Drow that he had met were usually more hostile, but in both cases, a possible result was a knife between his ribs, and he liked living too much to risk that.
"If you like, we can go out the back door into the garden. There's plenty of shade and interesting things there." |
