I don't care so much since I don't like FPSs that much, but some of you might, so I figured I'd post.

Seven months after a snippet was shown at E3, Midway and Epic's shooter is confirmed for Sony's next-gen console.
As part of its pre-E3 PlayStation 3 conference in May, Sony brought Epic Games cofounder Tim Sweeney on stage. Besides saying that Epic had already received a PS3 software-development kit--which he said was "easy to program"--Sweeney also performed a tech demo of a shooter running on PS3 hardware.
The game on display appeared to be Unreal Tournament 2007, the flashy-looking, Unreal Engine 3-based successor to the popular PC shooter Unreal Tournament 2004. However, neither Sony nor Epic would confirm when--or even if--UT 2007 would arrive on the PS3.
Seven months later, the two companies have broken their silence. The January 2006 issue of PlayStation Magazine proudly proclaims that, yes, UT 2007 is coming to the PlayStation 3. Inside, the magazine also reveals that the game will be a launch title for the PlayStation 3, which is tentatively slated for a spring 2006 launch.
UT 2007 for PS3 is the second Epic shooter announced for next-generation consoles. However, the first, Gears of War for the Xbox 360, is slated for a general "2006" release date, meaning it could conceivably come out after the PS3 UT 2007.

I love Unreal, but unless this version has a lot of uniquness compared to the PC version (or more original such as Unreal Champoionship 2), I don't really see a reason why to pick it up over the PC version if you have a powerful PC (which I will by the time this game comes out...I mean it is Unreal...one of the best multiplayer games ever). Especially since PS3 will not have a hard drive, therefore will not have as many map packs or mods (which is what helps make the series so great).
I could be wrong though. Apparently, many enjoy Call of Duty 2 on 360 as much as they do on PC...or more. But still, since Unreal is such a mod heavy game, it will be hard for me to see that.
But still, it is nice to know that there is a something to show that the PS3 might actually be released around spring (since most signs seem to be pointing it will not be). |

depends on what size TV you have on whether you should get the pc version or not. If i were going to get it I would get it on PS3 b/c I have a 55" HDTV and I prefer a controller.
and the PS3 will have an HD, it's optional. So the Map packs are still a possiblility. |

Yeah...all I got is a 27 inch standard TV. I would love to get an HDTV about that size, but I really don't have the disposable income for that. I have to save up for other things (a new PC/laptop for example...though it looks more like a desktop will be better for me). Maybe a smaller one that can be used as a PC monitor or just a regular LCD PC monitor to replace the old CRT one I use now) and equip the 360 and the (when I get one when the price would drop down) PS3 to it...but right now the TV factor is not a really big factor for me.
And besides, lets just hope Sony doesn't blow HDD support like they did for the PS2 by making it useless. |
