July 13, 2005 - Attention all gamers who enjoy making deals with the devil and lighting their head on fire: Majesco announced today that the Climax Group is currently developing a Ghost Rider game that is scheduled to ship in the summer of 2006. Climax also worked on Sudeki on the Xbox, Serious Sam: Next Encounter on the PS2 and ATV Offroad Fury: Blazin' Trails for PSP. The Ghost Rider game will be tied to the movie starring Nicholas Cage that comes out the same summer.
For people that need a little help identifying cult heroes, Ghost Rider was a hit comic in the 70s starring stunt rider Johnny Blaze. When Johnny's father falls sick to cancer he makes a deal with a Satan-like Mephistopheles to trade his soul for the health of his dad. Unfortunately for Mr. Blaze, the fine print of the contract states that he must spend the rest of his nights with a torched skull on his shoulders taking vengeance on the forces of evil.
Jesse Sutton, President of Majesco stated about the project: "Given its unique mix of motorcycle combat, supernatural themes and popular Marvel characters, Ghost Rider is the perfect property to translate into a video game." So far we know that the title will include combo-based combat and motorcycle action. The game's storyline was written by comic authors Garth Ennis and Jimmy Palmiotti.
So far the game has been announced for Xbox, PS2, and Sony's PSP. |
For those who don't know Garth Ennis is responsible for the current run of Punisher comic books as well as The Punisher game that came out which IMO was Great. Completely faithful to the comic book character. I have faith that Ennis can help make a Ghost Rider game something awesome like The Punisher. |
