First time ive inked. No one tell akiyama. I dont think either one of us could handle it.

Ill try again after my computer finishes its heart attack from producing this monstrousity. ^_^

EDIT:
. As opposed to submitting some otehr artist's work to my vandalism, I scanned in a peice of my own crap. Result follows here. I learned a lot from my first shot but not enough. I moved from the 10-30 point round default brush to the elliptical brush in Photoshop's calligraphic set. The brush has a much more defined edge and the tilt gives lines and edges some shape to them. Unfortunatly my art is a sad testing feild and I started with the arms up top that turned out spindly and mishapen. The face, hair, and shoes were done entirly in PS with out a sketch to base them on, but I feel strongly about how they turned out being as I was going blind. The shading was the fun part, but I used too big of a size on the ellipticle for shading and I should have went with a smaller size and added more detail. after playing with this Id like to experiment shading and coloring with differnt brushes for unique effects.

Like I said before, not bad at all for your first attempts. One thing I would swear by in Photoshop is the Pen tool. God I love that thing.

Only thing better would be for me to master illustrator. Wahoo!

Try some practices with the pen tool. You'll be quite surprised!

Wow, that really doesn't look like a first attempt =D Nice job! And yeah, practicing and playing with different tools will give you a good feel for what you like to use =)

If you would like some additional advice:
My Devart friend Chuzzwuzza has a tutorial here which covers digital inking and coloring =) And I have a traditional ink tutorial here if you're interested in trying out pens and nibs =)

Goodness Scrums, tell your friend that that tutorial is going to be all kinds of pimp smooth help. I was going off of a tutorial I found at QC (here) but this really expands on a lot of things there. Also learns me up good on a better shading option, broad outlines (which I was kickin my self in the nads trying to do effectively), and colored lines. Thanks a billion.

And I read yours on real ink. I agree with Chuzzwuzza, people that do their own line work "are freaks. And should be feared and respected for their awesome skill.". Grats on freakin me out, Scrums ^_^

Doot, learn me your pen thing sometime.

I sketched this for something to Ink and followed some of the advice from teh tutorials you guys gave me. Doot, I think I need to talk to you 1v1 on the pen tool; I think It very useful, but the tut that guy did is missing a step or two or something because my lines were going way the F off sometimes. Anyway, see this new evil below.

My friend, Chris Balvin

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I actaully did some of the lines with the pen paths. His hair line as well as both of his legs are done with paths, but everything else was done freehand (zoomed to likr 200% so it looks like Im actaully a good artist).

I couldnt get them to bend how I wanted to though, and I didnt understand what the direct select tool was or how to get it to let me adjust my path lines. Another gripe is the bumpy head, free hand circles are teh suck, and the fact that I couldnt find out how to set the hardness on the brush down to 0, whcih would have given it a more gradient lighting effect.

Anyway, I cant say Im not a little proud of this one, but I mostly just followed Chuzz'z tutorial word for word, so props again out to the Capn's friend. I could have colored the lines like they do on PO, but it was really late, I was really tired, and I just didnt wanna f*in do it.
