Madden is ok but Burnout Revenge rocks!

OK, the quick and dirty review of Madden 06...it's Madden. They did add some nice modes (Superstar) and some bells and whistles (Vision & Precision) but it's still Madden and we'll all throw for 500 and run for 250 a game with any team we want to.

Now the reason for buying this game is the Burnout Revenge demo. God, they hooked it up!!! As soon as the car comes onto the screen I went "Good God". From there it was simply Burnout once again killing all else out there. I played one game of Madden, tapped the Superstar mode a bit, then played 4 hours of the one track, point-to-point Burnout demo.

Trust me, if you like racing games even one bit you will love this game. I'm reserving it tomorrow.

I have the PS2 Madden and I'll be getting Burnout for PS2 also. I might get an XB when it drops to $99 in Nov. (Just my speculation)

I don't think it will drop.

M$ is STILL losing money on them.

PS2 will drop though.

It'll drop when the XB 360 comes out. Worse come to worse, I'll be able to get it cheap on Black Friday. Walmart was selling the XB package last year for $99 I believe so I expect the same, at the very least.

If the PS2 drops then I fear the XB will have to drop or else they'll have to buy back a helluva lot of systems. I'm no retailer tho I'd think there would be a stink if they brought out a new system and didn't at least authorize a minor price drop to clear inventory.

The 360 is going to come out at what I'm estimating to be $350 at this point. They'll be losing about $100 on each one.

Then the Xbox has to drop in price too. They will be losing $100 on that. And they can't just stop making the Xbox b/c not ALL the games are backwards compatible.

Good thing they have all that money to back them up.

Sony has already said they can drop the slimline to $99 and still be making money off of it. Good thing b/c they are in a bad spot too. They are currently losing money on every PSP sold and the PS3 will be no different when it comes out at what I predict to be $400.

So both big dogs will have 2 consoles on the market that they are losing money on. The only plus is for Sony who has a 3rd console that is making money.

Actually I believe Nin will be sitting prettiest (solely speaking on profit/loss margin) as the GBA (original and SP) still carries the company. The DS still probably has a ways to go to break even (tho I'm judging that mostly on newness) and the GC I believe is solid. Also, they float on all of the first party software since that's the only stuff that really puts up numbers for them barring the Square and Enix games.

Of course if you focus on just the Big Two (where M$ is actually #3 worldwide) then you're right. Gates is in a bad position and will be dead in the water once the PS3 does come out. The PS2 will still be sold because it'll sell. The XB will still be sold because it HAS to be. I am also not sure how much I believe the "We'll stop production on the XBox in..." stuff at all. They'll stop when it becomes too costly, I don't believe a solid date can be set at least until the XB 360 launches.

I'm still waiting to hear about a Killer Appfirst game either system for me. For the PS2 it was Twisted Metal Black, for the GC it was Pokemon Colluseum. Klax was my first Genny game (with Mike Ditka football and Pat Riley basketball), Megaman something broke my NES cherry (bought the NES and Genny the same day), and Aerobiz filled my SNES slot for weeks. For the record Hatris was my GB killer app. I hang my head in shame.
