With gas prices going sky high, I feel it's about time I sell that Jeep and get myself something smaller and more economical, since anyways I am done with the things I needed on a 4x4.
Here's a first-quick list of what interests me. I'm only posting new models so that references keep constant with each other. Comment at will please.
HONDA ACCORD SEDAN LX-G AUTOMATIC
Stock Price: 26,600$ CDN (22,170$ USD)
Price After Option Building: 32,314$ CDN (26,932$ USD)
Final Price After Tax: 37,301$ CDN (31,039$ USD)
HP: 160 @ 5500 RPM
Torque: 161 lbs-ft @ 4500 RPM
Fuel Economy: Unknown
Pros: Nice appearance, overall good resale price, A/C, ABS, power windows, security system, keyless entry all stock.
Cons: Options cost a lot (900$ CDN for a CD Changer!!!), not many color choices (although my favorite is in there), Honda cars prone to theft, high price after option building.
Comments: I know Honda has a good reputation and the Accord would be a great day-to-day car.
HONDA ACCORD COUPE LX-G AUTOMATIC
Stock Price: 26,800$ CDN (22,337$ USD)
Price After Option Building: 35,592$ CDN (29,664$ USD)
Final Price After Tax: 41,132$ CDN (34,382$ USD)
HP: 160 @ 5500 RPM
Torque: 161 lbs-ft @ 4500 RPM
Fuel Economy: Unknown
Pros: Roughly the same as the sedan. Coupe version has a nice, sporty look.
Cons: 2-door model, so hope your rear passengers aren't overweight. Again, options are quite pricey. Expect higher insurance premiums due to the model being a sport version.
Comments: I love the look of the Coupe! There's also a great selection of visual upgrades, and I finally see for the first time in my life: side window visors! YES! There's even a metal steering wheel (even though the sucker costs 900 bucks...)
HONDA ACCORD HYBRID AUTOMATIC

TOYOTA MATRIX 2006 XR FRONT WHEEL DRIVE AUTOMATIC PACKAGE B
Stock Price: 24,610$ CDN (20,511$ USD)
Price After Option Building: 25,186$ CDN (20,991$ USD)
Final Price After Tax: 26,000$ ~ 30,000$ CDN (21,670$ ~ 25,000$ USD)
HP: 126 @ 6000 RPM
Torque: 122 lbs-ft @ 4200 RPM
Pros: ABS, practicality of a hatchback, reputation of Toyota models.
Cons: Poor options, no choice on interior color (dark gray is gonna be HOT during summertime!), FWD means less traction during wintertime, unsure about the stereo system...
Comments: I liked the Jeep mainly because I could toss something into the trunk from the driver seat, or put some larger articles that wouldn't have fit in a normal sedan. Even though I do not use the trunk that much, it's still a welcome thing when you need it.
TOYOTA MATRIX 2006 XR 4WD AUTOMATIC PACKAGE B
Stock Price: 26,120$ CDN (21,770$ USD)
Price After Option Building: 26,680$ CDN (22,237$ USD)
Final Price After Tax: 28,000$ ~ 32,000$ CDN (23,337$ ~ 26,671$ USD)
HP: 118 @ 6000 RPM
Torque: 115 lbs-ft @ 4200 RPM
Pros: ABS, practicality of a hatchback, reputation of Toyota models, 4 wheel drive.
Cons: Poor options, no choice on interior color (dark gray is gonna be HOT during summertime!), unsure about the stereo system, not as powerful as a 2WD.
Comments: It's nice that the 4WD package isn't that much more expensive than the 2WD version. Definitely appealing.

PONTIAC VIBE FRONT WHEEL DRIVE 2005
Stock Price: 19,900$ CDN (16,586$ USD)
Price After Option Building: 29,105$ CDN (24,258$ USD)
Final Price After Tax: Unknown
HP: 130 @ 6000 RPM
Torque: 125 lbs-ft @ 4200 RPM
Pros: Practicality of a hatchback, low price, good appearance, lots of standard stuff included in there. OnStar could definitely be helpful. GPS is standard. More powerful yet less expensive than a Matrix.
Cons: Ugly color selection, interior always dark to make for HOT summertime driving! ABS in option (didn't Pontiac put these standard on every car?)
Comments: All right! A GPS! Definitely helpful for the many, many one-way streets of Montreal. Price is quite appealing for a model with so much stuff in it, but I have heard things are not all well with Pontiac cars...
PONTIAC VIBE AWD 2005
Stock Price: 23,755$ CDN (19,799$ USD)
Price After Option Building: 30,970$ CDN (25,812$ USD)
Final Price After Tax: Unknown
HP: 123 @ 6000 RPM
Torque: 118 lbs-ft @ 4200 RPM
Pros: Practicality of a hatchback, low price, good appearance, lots of standard stuff included in there. OnStar could definitely be helpful. GPS is standard, 4 wheel drive, ABS is standard.
Cons: Ugly color selection, interior always dark to make for HOT summertime driving!
Comments: Wow! This model is pretty impressive from a quick look. Not much more expensive than the FWD version, so it seems like a super contender for Canadian winters.
