Punishments!

All right. So, here's the thing. Ber (known on the boards as Antinua) collects manga. This is fine, as she shares with the rest of us...except that she really spends waaaay too much money on it. She's gone from ten manga to over one hundred thirty in only a few months. Last time we went to the Mall, she bought ten manga. In one sitting.

So I made a list. A list of all the manga she has, when new volumes are coming out (in some cases), and how many volumes are in the series. I then made her another list of which volumes she was allowed to purchase. A relatively small number, in comparison. When she purchased one of those volumes, only then would she be allowed to replace it with a volume of another manga she is working on.

She is -not- allowed to purchase anything NOT on the limited list.

The only problem is, that I can't think of a decent punishment for her if she violates this.

Believe me, this is for her own good. Especially with Christmas right around the corner.

So, suggestions anyone?

She speaks lies...Walden's was having a sale and one can not turn down a good sale, and actually i only bought 8 and i got 2 free that weekend, it's just that the following weekend they also had another sale, buy 3 get the fourth free, and i am not passing up the chance for free manga...

just be careful. I know someone who was like this with videogames. Thing was he was using his parents money to do it. Would just buy anything that looked interesting.

I *WISH* I had that much to spend on anime and manga. I think her punishment is that she should have to buy me manga if she violates the rule.

If not I say let her do what she wants as long as its her money.
Antinua I would just say be responsible with your money, no sense putting yourself in a finacial hole, and its all good.

She's not a parent or guardian or anything. She's a college student. It's not really all -that- serious, I just think it'd be better if she spent some of that money on other things, or saved it. ^_-

I'm just helping her limit herself, that's all.

That's is really sweet of y'all to be worried, and I agree with Shandriz, I need to limit my spending 'cause a) Christmas is coming, b) College expenses are starting to go up c) I need to learn a little control. It's really hard to pass up a good deal, especially when it comes to manga and anime. Thank you for your concerns, though, it makes me feel better knowing that y'all are trying to help!!

I say, buy whatever you feel like buying. As long as your income>=expenses, why worry about it. If I didn't have to spend most of my money paying for college, I would buy a lot more games and such also. No manga though.

Maybe instead of a punishement ... finding an other hobby could probably limit the amount of money spent in manga? Not an other hobby meant to replace this one she already has but you know, just one so that while she's doing it ... she's not spending money ^^ (or at least, less money)

I have some suggestions! huh let's see ... martial arts! and/or ... meditation maybe? <_<
