WELCOME TO POCKET OTAKU.

We at PO hope that you enjoy what we have prepared for you.

This is meant to be a fun place to waste away all of your free time. To keep it fun for everyone, we do have a few guidelines that we ask you follow.

1) No unnecessary flaming.
This is meant to be a fun place for everyone. Of course there will always be the few people that need a good flaming but make sure you think they really deserve it. Everyone has their own opinion and the flaming of another member for having an opinion different then yours will not be tolerated. You will get one warning. After that, you will be banned from PO.

2) No Spamming
If you are found spamming on PO, your post will be removed and your warning level will be increased by one. Spamming is an acceptable reason for flaming. Smile

3) PO is a PG13 board.
Let?s be considerate to the younger members and the parents that may be on the board. Limit bad language. A word or so is understandable in some situation, but too much is just annoying. No excessive inappropriate language or subject matter unless in an allowed Forum.

4) No pointless posts.
Pointless would be considered one word or just a smilie or something to that affect. I would appreciate it if you didn?t waste my database space with stuff like that. : Wink

5) Please post in the appropriate forums.
Some forums have specific guidelines about what they are there for. Please be sure that you are posting in the correct forum.

6) Don't take matters into your own hands.
If you see another member breaking one of these guidelines, please report the member to a moderator. Please do not post in response to their violation.

7) Please use proper Netiquette. If you aren't sure what the rules are - please visit here.

8 ) Please refrain from double posting. You are able to edit your own post within many of our forums. If a mod finds a double post they will more than likely consolidate it. (Added 3/16/07 for clarification of one the posts below - bolded - this one)

Reminder:

Not everyone knows what "Spamming" is so we wish to clarify it by this:

~ Posting irrelevant matters in forums, often causing the posts to roma "off-topic"
~ one word posts
~ posts that only consist of smilies/emoticons
~ consistantly posting one word at a time in a string to create a fulls sentence

This has been a test of the PO Rookie Rules List. ~beep~

New Rules: PLEASE do not create more than on name for yourself. If you have your name and you find out you wish it to be something else, contact the administrators (Me or Shino) and we will see what we can do.

If you continue to post under two names you will continue to receive warnings until it no longer allows you to post.

Also, please respect one another on the board. Continuing to pester someone via posts or PM's will result in being warned if it is brought to the attention of the admin. Continued pestering will result revocation of posting abilities to special forums (if you are a PO member) and an issued warning.

Looks like I'm needing to bump this up to the attention of all. I am not singling out anyone but I'd like to offer a refresher - or a first time read for new members.

We try really hard to keep Pocket Otaku a place for everyone to come to and relax, mingle with friends, make new friends, and the like.

Please, if you do not understand these rules or need some clarification, feel free to contact the Admins (Myself or Shino) or our various moderators and staff members.

We will start deleting SPAM posts, irrelevant posts, and cracking down on off-topicness. It isn't only the responsibility of the admins and mods on the board to keep it clean and functional, but also the responsibility of being a member of the community.

Please adhere to the guidelines here and in other areas of the forum... Like the Vs. Forum for instance since there are 5 topics in there currently that do not!

Briefly unlocking this to bring up an important subject:

Avatars & Signatures
It doesn't look like much, but a single graphic signature can take up more space and time to download than the entire forum. It's true! While the forum is mostly composed of text, a logo and borders, a signature can be colored, stretched, animated, and a whole lot of other things. I've noticed that signatures and avatars have steadily increased in size overall, some of them now reaching a staggering 1.5 megabytes. That's a 15-minute download on dial-up.

So as a consideration for the other members, I want to ask you guys to please double-check your signature and make sure it doesn't stretch forum tables, and is easy and quick to load. Generally, a small, static picture is more than enough to express yourself. A good signature:

-Shouldn't stretch the forum (400 pixels wide)
-Shouldn't be overly tall (150 pixels high)
-Should remain under 35 kilobytes.

Likewise for avatars - while tiny in appearance, some can reach very high file sizes because of animation. As a sample, my current sig & avatar setup is a measly 5.7 KB. So please check out your stuff and trim if you can.
