Raven's Revenge

[Therin]

Raven unsheathes Zanetsuken, and holds it up in the dim light. "Then what do you make of this?"

[Azurel]

Rayne senses the sword more than he sees it.

"It appears to be a sword with quite some shadow energy about it. What is your point?"

[Therin]

"It's more than that. For example..." The hilt exploded to a full three feet long, and Raven grasped the end with his other hand, "It changes. But mostly, I need to learn to utilize that shadow energy."

[Azurel]

"So it is a big-hilted sword. Utilizing the energy of an object is much harder than you'll be able to handle. Not even I posses that kind of power."

Rayne motions his hand at the sword to prove his point. Shadow encased the sword's blade; it was the sword's own energy, being manipulated by Rayne. The shadow rose off of the tip of the blade, at first carrying the same shape as the blade, but then twisting and forming into something different. Raven watched as the shadow formed into a black snake melding off the tip of the sword. It was then that the sword took over for itself; the snake lunged at Rayne, snapping its jaw closed but a few inches from his face. Had it not been for a small push of gravity, it most likely would have bit him in the face. The snake hissed and rededed into the blade.

"As I have stated, it would be impossible for someone of your skill in the area to control that power. Instead, treat the sword as a companion, a person with its own personality and powers. Ask it to use its own powers and simply send it in the right direction. The most you can do is bond with the sword so that it complies when you ask for power."

[Therin]

"Hmmm...Then how am I able to do this?" Raven raised his hand, and watched as shadow played through his fingers, writhing like snakes in the darkness. His eyes were shot through with black.

[Azurel]

"You posses some shadow energy as well. That sword would not let you touch it, were it not for those powers. It seems that you would have to train those powers of yours, they seem...untamed, as well as build a relationship with that sword. Heh, and here I did not picture you as the adventuring type."

[Therin]

"Very well. You haven't much else to do. Train me."

[Azurel]

"I cannot. The sources of our powers differs, and thusly what I would have to teach you would be wrong. You draw the shadows from yourself, I manipulate them from others."

[Therin]

"Then what do you do for power when there are no others around?"

[Azurel]

"In a place where shadows are lacking, I rely on my other energies."
