Last period of school, 15 minutes left to go in class, right? So, I am sitting there, listening to the teacher, paying attention... then the school Coach busts into the room and starts screaming at me for wearing sunglasses. Which is not against any rules, nor is it unexpected: I always wear my shades, because I don't like bright light. But he's acting like it's the goddamn apocalypse, as though my wearing shades in class is tantamount to opening the Seventh Seal.

THEN he tells the teacher "if he wears sunglasses again, you tell me."

...err, what? What are you going to DO about it, precisely? One, it's not against the rules at all. Two, it's not disruptive. Three, I'm sensitive to bright lights. What's your gripe? Lecture me when you actually @#$%ing TEACH something, instead of yelling "one more lap" at third-graders.

That's what I WANTED to say. What I actually did was shrug.

I would typically say that wearing sunglasses while in class is a) trying to hide "red eyes" b) an easy coverup for falling asleep or c) rude to the teacher who would expect eye contact, but in a case that you have sensitivity to bright lights then it's acceptable. The coach was just ill educated on the circumstances and since your present teacher didn't care, what's the sitch?
