Has anyone heard her newest CD? It has "If I Was a Rich Girl" and "What You Waiting For?" (both of which I have heard on radio). It is definitely Japanese influenced. It has a song called "Harajuku Girls" which is talking about an area in Tokyo that is known for being the "cool" and "cute" spot for Japanese youth. It's all the rage there, and it has its own fashion, hence the song.
The thing I'm wondering, is what happened to the band? I have not had a chance to actually look it up. Did she just break off for a while or is the band gone? |

I haven't heard anything about it, and I was wondering the same thing myself. I just quickly checked their website, and there didn't seem to be anything suggesting that they broke up for any reason. At least I would hope that they didn't break up. I would just assume that she decided to do something solo in the meantime...just like some band members join side projects between albums.
As far as her solo stuff goes, I haven't heard it, or heard anything about it, aside from UP telling me that it isn't very good. |

Yesh, I got her new cd when it cam eout..and i really like it. I dont think the band is breaking up officially yet. Apparently she was just doing solo stuff for awhile. I hate to say it but I wouldnt be surprised if the band broke up sooner or later...it seems like there may be tension with her doing her solo thing. I hope that doesn't happen though cuz I liked the band...I also like the solo stuff too, at least, some of it.

They can't break up! Because...I said so! I do like her solo work a lot, but I also love No Doubt's work. They are just so flexible. |

No talks of the band splitting up. Just know that Gwen really wanted to do something inspired by her music idols of youth.
I like it. Some songs I could do without and I think she may be just a LITTLE too obsessed with Harajuku - which has been around for quite some time. |

I don't really like it...For some reason, I don't know why, but it doesn't seem to be something she should be doing. It seems kinda taboo for me. oO
I don't actually like it when americans try something japanese...It seems to make fun of it or screw it up really really badly, but that could just be me.  |
