OK.

Im not exactly what you woulod call a big time veteran of the MMO world, but Im sure there has to be a game that can keep my attention for more than a couple of months!!!

I just cancelled my subscription, after playing since realease.

Im now considering *shudders* WoW.

In EQ2 its considered swearing to even say WoW, but, you guys seems to be able to be kept occupied with it, so i want to know, whats good/bad about WoW?

Based upon the fact they dont suddenly start offering me money to play EQ2 (could happen Wink ), im gonna be getting WoW sometime next month.

Unless I just go back to Galaxies (like THATS gonna happen)

As for good/bad wow.
Good:
Very fun game. Its possibly what Galaxies SHOULD have been.

Bad:
No PVP honor system yet, lag depending on your server, No sense of "community" like there was in Galaxies. You wont find yourself just lounging around the inns or taverns.

The classes are very diverse and a lot of fun.

The profession system is incredible.

You can solo unlike that horrible FFXI crap game.

The quests are vary a lot in length so if you have a lot of time, you might do an instance quest, but if not, you may just go after a lone elite in a graveyard (which I did last night

WoW is definatly a good choice.
Make sure you get on Hyjal as we have an alliance guild there already and Lord Kon is making a Horde guild.

When Wolf says no sense of community... I would disagree a bit. It's just different. Now you don't hang out in the inn or anything, but people questing are very nice to others from what I have seen. Unlike my FFXI experience. And if you ever need help with a quest, all you have to do is ask on the general channel and usually someone will help you out.

Good: Very solid MMOG, tons of fun, goes against convention in some areas, keeps it in others.

Bad: Way too fast to get capped level, and once you do, kiss soloing and casual fun goodbye.. All your friends will get endgame crazed and you'll no longer be able to hang out with them if you play somewhat more casually.

Sounds cool, end o fthe day, ideal day in EQ2 for me, is grouping up with some good people, and having a good time.

Unfortunatly with EQ2, if you dont play a "popular" class, I find that hard to do.

Is there something like this in WoW?

Also, is there a class that is suited to me.

I prefer playing a light fighter role, not quite a tank, but can still do some damage, without being a rogue

I like Rogues.... Of course, they may be much different in EQ and EQ2 than what I usually play in DnD. Or you might just not like Rogues. LOL.

I just noticed you quoted me in your siggy. LOL.

See, now if they where like what they are in DnD, I might play one.

I like the whole stealthy thing.

But in EQ2, their essentially damage machines

^_^ Yup, that was from when i first joined, cracked me up

I have noticed that the variety in WoW when it comes to classes. You don't see too many of one paticular class.

I will say this... if you can play a priest well.. you are golden.

I have 2 characters right now.

Level 31 Dwarf Paladin
Paladins seem to be very flexible. They can be the Damage dealer, they can heal, they can tank. Difference is that there is a class better at each of these roles. But if you like having them combined all into one package, there you go. I've got him doing Mining and Blacksmithing right now. But I tell you what, there is no better class to fight with in Duskwood.

Level 11 Tauren Hunter
Just started this guy yesterday. Man is he fun to play. Of course you get pets. And you can train them in different things with Training points. I don't know a lot about this just yet since level 10 is where you start. I will tell you this. The Hunter is a great melee fighter when you are level 20 or above and facing a spell caster. Just like rogues... b/c you have your pet attacking plus you dual wield, so the spell caster never gets anything off. However, a Hunter should never Melee a Paladin or a Warrior. They are great ranged fighters and usually the puller of the group.

Currently, my attacks with my hunter sequence goes Hunter's mark, concussion shot, send out pet, arcane shot, sting shot. By the time the enemy gets to me, I hit it once with my staff and it's dead.

I have to say I really like both of the classes that I'm playing right now.

Both of them seem up your alley, damage dealers but not necessarily the tank. The Pally can be a tank if you need him to be, but if you have a warrior, well there you go.

Hope that helps.

*Lurves her rogues* I have a rouge elf, and her daughter is going to be in the next campaign... Her daughter is a druid/rouge, which is hard to work with since they have different key stats, other than they both need dexterity. But it's fun.

Too bad the rouges in EQ2 are worth nothing.

Ooooh, druid rogue, interesting one.

My personal fave has always been the Rogue/Sorcerer mix.

Also, on the healer front, I currntly play a healer in EQ2, and iim pretty darn good at it I think, so may have to try that in WoW
