I signed up if only to help 'em test it.. I like beta tests in some sort of sadistic way.

I wonder how the hell they're going to make 20 levels meaningful in an MMORPG though..

The whole only-gain-exp-through-quests though is intruiging.. No grinding, like WoW.

The real-time combat system is intruiging too..

It will never hold a candle to the Tabletop. No MMO ever could IMHO.

The whole game intruiges me. I am very intersted in seeing how they handle this and what limitation, if any, your characters will have.

However, I will say this right now. It had better have a damn character creation unlike the world has ever seen. If it doesnt, that is likely to ruin the whole game for me.

I honestly don't think it's attempting to. If it did, then the game would be like NWN, completely open-ended.

It's taking the concepts, scenarios, classes, etc. and fitting it to an MMO mold. So it's not going to be completely like playing a tabletop game, which of course can't be matched in any other form.

The only big problem I have with D&Ds system is that whole "1 stat point every 4 levels" thing. I think that is retarded.

But... The way they do the system is much different from others. So maybe getting just feats will be enough for this game.

The "only gaining exp for quests" thing is going to probably lose them players. Mainly for the sole reason that there are many times when I only have a little time and I just jump on, kill some stuff, then hearthstone and jump off.

Seems that doing that would be pointless in this game.

My primary concern is that they will go FFXI on us. D&D is just as party oriented, if not more so, than any FF game ever was. But something tells me that DDO will attract a more cooperative and fun croud for this type of setting, than WoW or FFXI do. D&D is an aquired taste, and people that wouldnt consider playing the table top, probably wont give the MMO a second thought.

The table top is the reason I signed up for it.

FFXI left me with a bad taste in my mouth for MMOs. WoW and GW have renewed my faith. So I'll give it a shot.

GW this weekend anyone Wink

One can always buy books to gain stats, or magical items.
I love tabletop. I had a level 6 halfling thief, a level 24 half-orc barbarian, and I am currently playing a lvl 9 assimar paladin, were are currently lost in arbora.

Love the table top, should be interesting to see how it converts.

Anyone know what game setting their using for it? I.E realms or Greyhawk, or is it a new campaign setting.

*dreams of kicking Drizzts ass*

It's supposed to be set in Eberron. There's a whole section about it on the ddo.com forums.
