i know im not the best at spelling and stuff, but something that ive always wondered is, why do you guys call your language engliosh but change ALOT of things about it?
you've made the letter u almost redundant as it doesnt appear in colour among other words and you tend to swap the letter s for the letter z in some words too. it doesnt irritate me when reading topi5cs/posts/pieces of writing done by somebody american, but it does when using spellcheck on Word. theres is no English option, only American English, and on some programs its not even called that.
this isn't a direct attack on anybody from america, just programs that ignore the origins of the language that you speak |

Thats something i'm not sure many could answer, save for a college english major. It's something we just learned since we were kids. I have no clue when the changes started or why. Although I have heard of them plenty. The best answer I can give is they both sound the same despite the changes. So instead of calling it Ameritounge or something. It is called English as well. Mwahahahaha |

It's just a few letters in different places. So what? I forsee Canadian French to become its own language in a few centuries, but as for now, the French and I understand each other very well despite having different language styles. So I can say we speak the same language. |

Eh, being an english major (Yet just deciding, and being a freshman), i think its because thats what has happened. Somewhere along the line, we all decided to be different from England and change the english we use. Though i have to say, when i see those U's, or also when i see Tyre, it definitely throws me off *explodes*
All i know is that im found often times showing people the correct way to speak, because they dont know how to.
That is all |

Only in English do people park on driveways and drive on parkways, or ship by truck and send cargo by ship.
When our alarms go off, they go on. We have noses that run and feet that smell.
Sweetmeats are candy, but sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, nor are they bread, are meats.

Why the heck do you think I took it for 12 freaking years and then still had to take remedial English at college? It is screwed up language man. I mean we broke away from England and was all like hey we got our freedom. Yeah now let's screw up the language that they spent hundreds of years to make all proper and nice. It all took us a little over two hundred years to mess it up but we did it. So in other words. U.S.A. beats England again!!!!! In your face! Whoooooo!!!! And who do we have to thank for our victory? Us in the south of course. See ya'll around now you hear. |

American English and the Queen's English are exactly the same language, except for a few twists and turns. All the crazy quirks that we have, they also have. The weirdness comes from the fact that English itself is a mongrel of a language; we use words from TONS of different languages, all of which obey different grammatical rules. The inconsistencies didn't just appear when we showed up. |

most of these points i took into consideration and my only problem with the changes is programs released in england telling me i have spelt sometihng wrong because it isnt the american way of spelling it.
although the languages are the same, thy are still different (the spoken language is different around the country over here). therefore the programmers should realise this when releasing their software, i mean it doesnt mean as much change as say, including afrikaans (spelling?) in the program |
