My girl and i decided we should stop dating exclusively cuz i'm going to college in august and she will still be in high school... now i really like this girl and i think that i left the door open for future dates or whereever that path might lead... but am i just being terminally optimistic? |

Honestly Zzyxx....I think it might be optimism. that's rough even if it's only a coupld hundred miles away. However, that being said, it is possible. Kiyo and I spent quite a while almost 2000 miles away from each other. The most important thing is to pay attention to the relationship. If it seems like it's falling apart, do what you think is right but be ready to end it if you feel it's failing. Good luck

Thats true. Excel and Kiyo worked out long distance but then again you two are adults. Teenagers are pretty impatient. In this case Z, I'm not gonna be very optimistic. High school relations don't usually last -statistically-. It's hard but you -can- make it work -but- you've already gone and half broken up with the whole non dating exclusively. From my perspective things don't look too good. But again, I don't know either of you very well. |

me and chixie were also long distance and we eventually came together, things were really bad at times when we first came together and when we were long distance, but i think that was part of growing together |

How far away are you?
Long distance is very tough. Don't break up on bad terms b/c burning bridges is not a very wise move, but think about the distance. How often you will see her, that kind of thing.
If you live more than 2 or so hours away, it will be very difficult. |

not having a girlfriend at all, all i can say is that if you two want to keep it together, you two will find a way. Other than that, if its going to be a long ways from her, and you've already severed a link, then you may just be better off telling her "Hey, its been fun, and i won't forget the memories, but this doesn't look like its going to work."

I don't think long distance is a death sentence for a relationship, it is hard as hell, that’s for sure. . .But any legitimately serious relationship is a lil difficult anyway. It has also been said distance makes the heart grow fonder. I think it's also a good test for the relationship, if u can make it work like that, you will have no problem when your back together.
If people are meant for each other I feel it can work no matter what, as long as both parties are willing to make the commitment. |
