...and then I convinced myself I wanted to let other people see it. All part of the positive thinking plan.
Anyway, I've managed to put together some of my stuff and loded it up to my webspace. If you're brave enough to actually want to see them, they're at
http://www.geocities.com/volinar/drawings
At least, I think that's the right link. If not, then you can choose the "Artings" link (4.5) from the main page at geocities.com/volinar.
So, yeah, go have a look. I'll be hiding in the corner over here. |

This is a bump post, to reflect the changed status of my stuff from a single drawing to a whole page full of 'em. |

I'm glad you bumped it SA!
I hadn't had a chance to see them at all.
And I have to say, I like it!
I like that you are defining a style already so early into the works. (Only really critiquing because you say it's art of a beginner and as I am not what I would consider an artisan I figure some of my info may help).
I know you are using someone else's characters as guidelines and I know this sounds silly but I'm glad it isn't mainly anime based. As I love the genre I think the art world is becoming overly saturated with it. More children are growing up drawing just from anime and not recognizing some really great work from different styles.
Anyway, definitely keep up the work. Grab a friend sometime and make them pose for you. A good thing to do is pick up a drawing anatomy book. Go for complexity and then scale it down. That way you know all the laws you can bend in artwork and still get your point across.
The Pu's are fun creatures. I would love to see some more dimension on those guys. |

I totally agree! I love anime but so many people are drawing that style now and its like they are forgetting to make their own |

First things first. Actually, the reason I've shied off the animation style so far is because I haven't been able to make it work with me. I have a Piro sketch of Kimiko on my desk, and I took three shots at trying to render her and they all came out bad. Could be Piro's particular style, but it missed.
Here's the secret - Ozy and Millie is drawn simply enough that my hand can follow it, even screw up on it, and still have it come across. I'm still having trouble figuring out consistently how Simpson does his ears.
As for the Pu, well, they have their own webspace where Tine has put up some drawings, and they have a LiveJournal of their own. More pictures will probably follow tomorrow, as I drew at the desk today but didn't have time to get things scanned in. Eventually, I'm going to try and start copying more styles. If I try to copy a lot of styles and see what works and what I like, I think that when I finally feel confident enough to strike out on my own, I'll have an idea of how I'll construct things.
The best part is - I'm learning. Slowly, probably, but I'm learning. Every time I sketch Ozy or Millie, it's a little easier. Plus, through messing up, I'm getting an idea or two about if I were to draw other things... |

That's absolutely cool.
I wasn't meaning to come off nitpicking or anything. Just trying to give some positive reinforcement to keep up the good work.
I really am looking forward to seeing more pieces. |

Well, there's more now. Sketching at my work desk with the pen because of a slow work day will do that. |
