If there is one sentence that needs to be banned from the entire universe, it has to be this one.

As soon as they see something I have. Be it the car, or the computer - any fucking thing, the question pops up.

So what if they are? So what if they aren't? Who gives a fuck either way? Whenever I hear that phrase, my mind translates it as "Are you one of those dumbass spoiled sons of bitches?"

How about that: my money isn't your business. My parents' money isn't your business. I could drive a Viper and be shit out of cash simply because I love cars or I could be ultra-rich but ride around in a trusty old Chevrolet Caprice. Nice surface reading, idiot.

Shuri...I couldn't agree more. Who gives a crap? It's none of anyone's business. However, blatant spoiled brats DO piss me off...

I agree. It shouldn't matter. Unless the person with the nice stuph is just an absolute snot, and you know this from personal experience. Than it's okay to make fun of them XD!

But yeah. I own a decently nice car, an Escort Zx2 (which actually isn't that expensive) which I bought with my own money that I saved up, working as a web designer for a small firm (which was the highest paying job I've ever had, although certainly not the nicest). Anyway, to get to the point, I look about 15 or 16 (some people have even said 13 or 14), but I'm 20. And people at gas stations, parking lots, drive-throughs, etc. all look at me like I'm some spoiled little kid "driving the car that daddy bought me." I hate it =( They have no idea that I've been supporting myself since my junior year of high school. It's like, other people get respect for the struggles that they've been through, but I don't deserve it because I look young?? It's such bull.

I know how ya feel my friend...oh lord I know how ya feel.

Our family came into money by losing my father (terrible trade...I would give it all up to have him back)

And since then some of my friends look at me diffferently and damn I hate it with a passion.

I am sick of people

End of line

i gotta agree with you shuri. my parents' money or lack of money has nothing to do with me. i work almost full time now that i'm out of college for the summer and the vast majority of things i do are done with my own cash. i have no business asking my parents for money, even if they were filthy rich and could pay for me. the point is to gain independence and be able to rely on yourself!

Shuri, I agree with you.

However, I will say this. I am somewhat guilty of this. Mainly when I see a HS kid driving around in a brand new car and talking up trash b/c his/her parents bought it for them. Basically being a spoiled brat. There is a difference between your parents helping you out and you accepting thier help with respect, and being a spoiled brat.

Personally, no matter how much money I have when I have kids, they will work as soon as they turn of age. And they will save money for their own car. It will teach them to respect the things they have more.

Along the same topic...

What I had is the "must be nice" comment that some people say.

A person who used to be a friend to me used to say that a lot.

When I was 26, I had a good job, a relativilly new car, and I had bought a house. He would say, "Must be nice."

My response was, "Yeah, it is nice. But you know, busting my ass working 50 hours a week while going to college full time just so I could pay my bills and help my mother pay hers... that WASN'T nice."

I probably should have waited. I struggled a lot for a while. It was hard for me too keep up. It was a good thing I had a roommate.

So yeah Shuri, I can relate. People shouldn't make assumptions and statements like that.

And on the other hand, if your parents do something as wonderful as buying you a car or something like that. Respect what you have been given. Consider yourself lucky, and GIVE BACK! To your family and your community.
