Yeah i have internet... and its a whole lot better than Earthlink here !!!!!!! Well... is a clone, and I wasnt the creator... I got it from my dad, cuz he's too cheap to buy me a new one. I dont know the manufacturer, Windows 95 has nothing on it... so I dunno... Sucks big time |

I used to have a Compaq and I agree that they totally suck. Right now I have a Gateway, and it's a little better, but not by much. It's a perpetual head ache for me. I also have a laptop, which I would urge no one to get as well, unless you REALLY need the portability, because they're nothing but problem after problem as well. The next computer that I get will be a Dell or Sony, and will be a desktop. As far as ISPs go, I'm on a college LAN, which is nice, but it's firewalled up the arse, so I can't download music, etc. I'm not familiar with Earthlink, but I was under the assumption that it was good. I guess it's not. My brother uses Optimum Online at home, which is a local Cable provider. So far, the cable modem has been amazing. It never really has problems, and it incredibly fast. It's also cool to be able to be online all the time, since it doesn't use the phone line. Another option could be DSL, which is also good. Whatever....

Sony's are also very good. I had a Viao Laptop for work for a while. Then they got me a Dell desktop and I gave the Vaio to someone else.
I also have cable modem, and depending on where you are, cable is significantly faster then DSL. DSL advertises "up to 50x faster then a phoneline." Then they compare it to a 28800 modem. Which you are looking at about 3K/sec for a download. That would put DSL at a max of 150k/sec. My friend has DSL and I have never seen his go over 120K/sec. My cable modem has maxed at about 190K/sec and the lowest I have ever seen it is 130K/sec. I would definatly go with Cable. It's also cheaper. $25 a month for me.  |

Well, my mom is moving to a house on April, maybe May and she has promised to get CABLE MODEM !!!!!! WOOOOO
So Im looking foward to that since most likely Ill be moving back to Orlando with her on May to study. Isnt it nice... cable modem !!!! Ill have to buy the adaptor for my GCN but I dont mind, as long as I dont have to see that mispelled "Dailling" on the Dailing screen of PSO. 
*so happy*
Then she needs to get a better pc... LOL |
