My Chemical Romance

What do you guys think of these guys? I think they're a testament that something good actually DOES come out of New Jersey.

Their album is pretty sweet. I picked it up after I saw them open for Green Day last week. When I first bought it, I was like "this is ok, but not spectacular" but after a few listens, I can't take the damn thing out of my CD player. My personal fav songs are Give'em Hell Kid, You Know What They Do to Guys Like Us in Prison, I'm Not Okay (I Promise), and Hang'em High.

My favorites are Hang em High, Thank you for the Venom, and Helena.
I was pretty much the same way Ming. First listen and I was like these guys are alright. After a few times I got hooked.

Actually i don't particularly care for them, its not that there bad or anything, there is just something about them that bugs the hell out of me... don't know what it is yet though... yeah im just weird like that Confused

I think I was just the opposite... I started off really big on them, but got burnt out quickly. I'm Not Okay and Give 'em Hell, Kid still populate my playlist however. Still like those a lot.

I just saw the "Helena" video this morning and yes..They are a goth band...Get over it those who say they aren't.

I don't think they deny the fact that they're goth-punk. And if you read anything about them, they're actually REALLY cool guys. They were interviewed in Rolling Stone and they were talking about how much they loved comic books and stuff. And while all the other bands on the Warped Tour were partying, they all piled in their van and went to Walmart to buy stuff...like a rack to organize Gerrard's (the lead singer's) D&D books.

Anyway, I've heard these guys compared to the Used before. Well, I saw the Used live last night...and there is NO WAY you can compare the two. I was fairly disappointed by the Used (which you'll most likelye hear about later on another thread...). My Chemical Romance has better, more energetic music, and is a hell of a lot more "punk" than most other bands out there that claim to be. It's actually a shame that My Chemical Romance is associated with those Hot Topic faux-punks, because the association will inevitably turn a lot of people off to some really good music.

The only problem I have with MCR is that everytime I've seen them on TV, they sound really off. Maybe it's just the way the TV distorts Gerrard's voice, but it kinda turned me off to wanting to go see them. I still love the music though.

When I saw them live, they weren't that great. But some bands just aren't good "live" bands...and at the same time, they're still pretty new. I'm sure it takes some time before you get good.
