Ok it's been a bug on my mind and I feel for better or worse I should say my peace and let it be that. Mind you, nobody needs to like or agree with it, but an open ear wouldn't hurt at all. No responses need come, in fact I don't expect too many. Anyway here it is....
Over the course of time, where it has been made clear by many that the hope for humanity has apprently become nothing but a lost cause in a sea of politics and corporations. The reasons may be valid, heck maybe even right for all I know. But I can't help but wonder if maybe such a conclusion...
Is the most one sided negative piece of bolonga I have ever heard.
I guess maybe humanity was meant to be percieved as such a unified positive force. It's hardly the case in the broad picture of things. Perfection is the dream and humanity is far from it. Along with such ideas as the ideal person, nation, or just a friend among other dreams that we humans can only percieve in our minds. Cheesy as this may sound there is always a dark side to every ideal and "humanity" is no different. To say you lose hope in it because the dark side of it shows up more often than the light is folly. I think and hope that it is these dark traits that can help define the parts of us that be human. Look at ten tragedies and I will hope to find a single good act that will overshadow them. I see the victims of floods, murders, incomeptant leadership, and I will also try to find those that will save those victims. To give a part of themselves to the cause that no leader or dream can give alone.
There is one other thing that gives me hope in humanity. It was the hope that took a young man and called him friend when he had been in a swirl of doubt and rejection from many people around him.
I call my humanity Pocket Otaku
As long as PO stands for friendship, love, comradery, imagination, and expanding your mind for all to see despite the outcome. Then humanity's hope shall never die as far as i'm concerned. I guess this rant will also be my thank you, as well as a One Year Anniversery for me and many.
PO is my humanity.
Well thats that. I'm kinda eager to hear what any have to say. Thank you for taking a look if ya did. Maybe i'm totally wrong and off the mark, but i'll go with that to the end. I know that all of ya have something that makes humanity rock. |

Girk... I don't think PO has ever been paid a greater compliment!
Thank you.
I happen to agree with you in most cases. Reapers recent post is a perfect example. Humanity has gone down the tubes when a man can walk into a house, blow 4 people away, including a baby, and then run from the law.
These are the reasons I rarely watch the news. It depresses me. Everyday, there seems to be more death and destruction.
Where does it end?
Well, it will never have a place here! |

Completely and Utterly!
Actually Brother, I think you hit it right on the head
You know that everything in the world isn't wrong when you find yourself with a goofy smile and you don't care what other people think, because nobody cares about how stupid you look with that grin on your face. Nobody cares if you're a dork or a geek because hey we're all a little dorky Nobody cares if you're not cool. Nobody cares if you've got problems, because hey, we've all been there, we're here for each other with a shoulder to carry you on till you find the strength to pick yourself up again. We're Friends.
And I've made the best friends I've ever had here on PO. Probably will continue to do so. I look forward to meeting new faces and keeping old ones. And best of all, for once feel like I actually belong somewhere, and I actually -Fit In-.
Y'all are like a family to me. No matter how far away you are sometimes, there's a little bit of PO in your heart |

Your right about humanity, it's for the most part a lost cause. If you want a perfict view of how the world really is look to Gotham City, the way it is in Batman Begins or in the comics. Almost everyone out there is for self gain and really cares nothing of anyone else but themselves. I'm sure we've all fallen into that, but theres always the good side, where you have people who try and help people but then you have people who abuse that etc... I personally don't like humanity for the most part with the exception of my friends and some aquantances. |

When using it in that sentance, couldn't you technically spell it baloney?
Just kidding. <3
I think PO represents one of the brighter sides of humanity, for sure. The abilty to choose and adapt is what makes humanity what it is, and we've all chosen paths to better this "secret garden" on the internet.
But yeah....Girkon, Shino, Ultrawolf, I agree with you guys. And I don't think anyone could ever dismantle what is here, because we won't let them |
