Last night Ming and I went to the local radion station's Big Hairy Halloween Ball featuring Audioslave, Seether, and 30 Seconds to Mars (Jared Leto's band) and it was freaking amazing!!
First, because of traffic arrived 30 mins late and missed 30 seconds to mars, which is one of my favorite bands! You should really check them out if you've never heard of them (www.30secondstomars.com) shameless plug.
So that sucked, but than Seether came on, whose first album I love and second album I was really disappointed with. Anyways, Seether came on stage and managed to sing every slow depressing song they had every written, except for their last song, which was the popular radio song and the only rock song on their album! After much disappointment I was upset that Ming and I paid $50 for the tickets. I was not happy so far.
The guy sitting next to us concured that the show sucked so far, but promised us when audioslave came on it would be all worth it. He was a HUGE fan! We hoped it would get better with audioslave, so we waited for them to set up and when they finally came on, it was like nothing I'd every thought possible!!! Their set was freakin awesome!! They also played songs from Soundgarden and Rage Against the Machine!! When I tell you we (meaning mostly me) wigged out, oh man, I freakin wigged out! Jumping up and down like crazy, headbanging, the whole nine yards, because the songs got better and better! At one point, Chris Cornell brought out his baby daughter. It was really sweet!!
For the encore Chris Cornell came out solo with his acustic guitar. The backkground behind him was black with tiny white lights all over the place. He started playing "Black Hole Sun" solo and acustic and it was beautiful! So beautiful I seriously almost cried! That's when I had a new found respect for Chris Cornell. I think he's a musical legend! I feel so privledged to have had the opportunity to see him live and in person.
Oh wait...Another cool thing is that we sat next to Tom Morello's mom, who inroduced the band and said that, "This is the greatest f*cking band" haha that was funny!! But seriously Tom Morello might be the greatest guitar player EVER!!! He rocks!!
We ended our freakin awesome night on a search for Wendys, only to find one that was closed! So we went to Gray's Papaya instead, which has the best hot dogs every!!!

I could have told you that Audioslave was gonna kick major arse chica! Thats why they are like, one of my favorite bands...now GO BUY OUT OF EXILE AND PRAY TO THE AUDIOSLAVE MONKEYS! |

Speaking of "buying" their CDs....I'm sending Andy home with a bunch of blank CDs. Could you please burn for me..All Audioslave, Chris Cornell's Solo Album, Soundgarden CDs, and all the Rage CDs.

I haven't heard much of Audioslave but I love Rage Against the Machine's Battle of Los Angeles CD. Very awesome all around. |

That was, by far, their best album. It's a shame that they broke up...but I guess it was worth it since we got Audioslave as a result. |

I love Audioslave and would love to see them live sometime, but as far as 30 seconds to mars. I'm sorry i dont care for them and they didn't impress me when i saw em live a few years back |

It's great when bands break up to form crappier versions of themselves.
Look at Tool and Perfect Circle. "Ok...Jerry you're in...Natasha..Yeah you can stay we need a female bass player..I the singere will stay...Jimmy...I'm sorry your phat drum beats were good for Tool but not our NEW band."
(Note: Names were made up since Perfect Circle much like NiN ruined my dreams of 90's rock bands being able to one day compete with 80's rock bands.)
I'm not a big fan of the song "Cochise" on Guitar Hero and that's all I heard of Audioslave. But then I've always love Speed Death Metal...FInd me a new band like that and I'll be happy. Gwar, we need you now more than ever! |
