Wow. This right here tells me that 50 is messed up!
Besides the fact that the game is supposed to be pretty bad. A not so successful knock off of GTA.
There is no way that running around, shooting people then stealing their cash should be for kids.

Rapper and game star says his M-rated game is OK for minors; thinks parents can use game as a teaching tool.
50 Cent, real name Curtis Jackson, is no stranger to parental warnings. The hip-hop star's albums come tagged with "Parental Advisory: Explicit Lyrics" stickers, as much of his musical material contains sexual elements, references to illegal drugs, and straight up thuggin'. Nevertheless, the rapper has sold millions upon millions of records, and is currently one of the music industry's biggest stars.
It came to no one's surprise that 50 Cent: Bulletproof, published by VU Games, was rated M for Mature for Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, and Use of Drugs. The Entertainment Software Ratings Board believes that "Titles rated M have content that may be suitable for persons ages 17 and older."
Jackson thinks otherwise. Today, he told Reuters that his game is not only OK for kids, but it also could be used to teach them life lessons.
"Just because it is rated Mature doesn't mean you shouldn't buy it for your kids," the rapper, whose given name is Curtis Jackson, told Reuters in an interview Tuesday. "Play the game and explain to them what they are playing."
The game that they will be playing sees 50 taking on underground crime syndicates in New York City with a boatload of guns, capping would-be foes in the dome, and looting their corpses for cash. For more on the game, check out GameSpot's preview.

I wonder if this will start a bunch of other singers getting their own games. Like an Ashlee Simpson where you have to move your mouth to match your music as you are lip syncing. Courtney Love game where you drink, cuss and throw things off stage. George Michael would probably have something to do with a buss stop. R. Kelly game where you case underage girls around. But that might get confused with the Michael Jackson game where you….. yah.
But it would be ok for kids to play them because they each teach great lesions. |

Well if the parents ever have a problem with it then they have to go to him since he's claiming full credit to it's style and creation. |

He's a sellout and a franchise.. a name brand and not much more than that. Is anyone surprised he would make a statement designed to sell a few thousand more copies of his game? |

I think what he was trying to say was that people should use the game as an example of what you shouldn't be teaching your kids to do. I think. |

I'm sure that IS what he is talking about. The fact is that either way, I wouldn't buy this game for MY kid. |

Does anyone else find something inherently wrong with this? You play as 50 Cent....FIGHTING crime? A rapper....FIGHTING crime? Interesting....maybe next we'll see games about rapists teaching sex ed. I'm sorry if I'm unfairly stereotyping, but based on the behavior I have seen from these "icons" I can't really bring myself to believe anything else.
I really don't think that his statement was crafted JUST to sell a few thousand more games. It was probably crafted so that people buy the games for their kids, so that even MORE of them want to be "Just like Fitty".
But honestly, I don't really know who he's fooling...oh wait, yes I do. The parents of white, middle- to upper-class suburban kids who buy anything for them as long as they keep occupied enough so that mommy can drive her big-ass SUV to Starbucks and gossip with her friends while daddy "works" late nights at the office with his secretary. Ahhh...God bless America... |

(Razer feels compelled to chime in here)
Curious how we all find this sooo offensive. How many 17 and under PO game players here play any of the GTA games? Or True Crime? Or The Getaway? Nobody's shooting those games down. Secondly Gamnespot said the game is actually a VERY good game regardless of who's the star so why the attack? I have a friend that lets her 10 year old daughter play San Andreas and she is not mentally dysfunctional at all. Of course if you have no clue on being a parent then 50's statement does come off as a great platform-builder. I just didn't know that Jack Thompson was a PO.
My oldest (14) son plays all of the GTA games as well as the military shooters (Battlefield, etc) and he has yet to kill anyone. I didn't personally buy GTA: SA for him (and even suggested he NOT get the game) but knowing that I have done my job fairly well as a parent and teacher, I'm happy that he is intelligent enough to sort out polygons from people. Also, how many of you commenting are actually included in this statement? How many of you actually HAVE kids old enough to play the game? This is like me bashing a tampon commercial! I have no say so in that because it wouldn't apply to me any more than 50's statement applies to any of you. It's just a nice way to seem "politically minded". Kinda like decrying the govt's handling of the hurricane crisis' while contributing not one dime or moment from your lives.
Also, from what I've read the game is about 50 getting revenge on the people that shot him. I can't (and wouldn't) speak for any of you but I think I would want revenge on anyone that tried to kill me too.
Hypocrisy is no longer limited to politicians, it seems.

Razer you have it a little skewed here. Where I don't agree with some of the things Ming said, you saying "Jack Thompson is a PO" was way out of line.
My thoughts behind this whole subject is that it is up to the parents to monitor what their kids play. Just like you do with your son. Thompson is blaming the companies for making the games. I personally would not buy GTA for my kids until they were old enough to understand it was fake. At earliest it would be 14. I would probably wait until they were like 16.
50 is coming out and saying his game his game is "GOOD FOR KIDS" and that's just retarded. Now if a parent were to buy this game for their kids, I would EXPECT them to monitor the play and teach their children that this is definatly something NOT to do.

I don't know about the whole revenge thing. Looks like the game is about something else, but, in life, after getting shot the first time or maybe the second, I probably would have moved on and straightened up my act. But ... he didn't do that. He is just as much to blame for getting shot 9 times as the people that shot him. |
