*Hi again, everyone! This will be the second session in the three-part Journeys of a Samurai saga. This takes place in the two or so- month interim between the end of Sperrit's The Caverns and Musashi and Aiman's Trials of the Pure. Like the previous Journeys thread, I will be running this as a DM would run a tabletop game, although we are, of course, playing diceless. This means that I am only taking a limited number of people -- probably four, or maybe five -- and these people must be willing to adhere to a few basic rules:
1) Complete RP is neccessary, of course. This means not only staying in character, but also knowing what your character is and is not capable of. The party will be faced with things that they cannot defeat individually, or perhaps even together. It also means keeping the "silliness" confined to non-serious situations.
2) Posts must have at least semi-good grammar. Sorry to impose like this, but I'd really like to keep this thread sort of "clean", grammar-wise. This doesn't mean you have to have perfect grammar, it just means that I'd like you to use correct capitalization and basic grammar (ie, periods). Nothing that couldn't be solved by proofreading.
3) People who participated in the first Journeys thread cannot be in this one. Sorry, guys! You'll be in the next one :)
Anyway, despite all these iron-fisted rules, whomever wants to be included in this RP, please give me a PM with your basic powers, as well as some background for your character. Thanks :)
(Takao's first post will come a bit later today, folks) |

*One more thing, before I start, that I forgot to mention: Takao's last adventure was not the norm for him. Usually, he is not the heroic "good vs. evil" type. He simply understood that Mondain was too much of a threat to ignore. In this thread, I'm going to be starting to get away from that sort of "epic struggle" type. In other words, non-good characters are welcome!
BTW, this post is just a sort of prologue -- don't start posting until after the next one :P
-------------
Takao didn't like being hunted, although not for the reasons one would expect. He didn't mind the fact that someone was trying to kill him; he could deal with that. He minded the fact that someone thought he was worth killing. It meant that he had not run far enough... and he had run very far.
But those thoughts, at least for the moment, were second on his mind. Someone was still trying to kill him, and these assassins were quite good at their job; Takao could not detect even the slightest sound. All he could do for now was to keep moving, jumping from tree to tree, not daring to risk even the faintest noise by running along the forest floor. At one point, Takao paused or a moment to survey his immediate surroundings, then prepared for another leap to the next tree. Suddenly, in the middle of his flight, he felt a rush of air behind him, and quickly twisted, whipping his katana out of its sheath to intercept and cleave an incoming arrow in two. Now unable to land on the branch correctly, Takao instead hit the tree trunk feet first and pushed off in the direction where the arrow had come from.
His wager paid off; he hit the ground and rolled under two other arrows, then sprang up and deflected two others. One arrow whizzed near his left ear, missing only because Takao's sudden attack took the assassins by surprise. The samurai landed in front of an assassin, who quickly jumped back and dropped his bow, hoping to draw his katana quick enough to fend off Takao's attack. He was, unfortunately for him, too slow, and Takao wasted no time cutting the hapless black-suited man down as the other four assassins turned to face the red-coated samurai. Takao's eyes narrowed; there was something familiar about these men. It became all too clear what it was, however, when he saw the silver "光速" (kousoku) kanji light up on their foreheads. This turn of events took Takao by surprise, but only for an instant, and he was able to activate his own "光速" (kousoku) kanji as the four assassins blurred towards him at superhuman speeds.
Despite the fact that they outnumbered him four to one, the assassins were no match.
Not only was Takao's magic stronger, making him even faster than they were, but he was by far the better swordsman, and it only took a moment before the four assassins lay dead. Takao stood there for a moment, panting from the exertion, then wiped his blade and sheathed it.
"They've decided to kill me then," he mumbled to himself. "The Shen Maa." |

Just to clarify this because I can (And NO, I am not involved in this adventure, I'm still in the Holy City) Order and Chaos are not clear cut good and evil. They display those tendencies, but Order is also just as likely to decide that it can rule this world better than anyone else and decide to take it over.

Oh, by the way, I may or may not be introducing a new character. I'll have to get Shino's permission first. Hehe sorry guys, I just keep making new people! I can't help it!
edit: By the way, nice PO, Wanderer. Very nice.
edit(again): Rats. Nevermind everyone, I'm gonna sit this one out. |
