TAG BATTLE... w00t!

Alpha 3 Max edition of seminal fighting series set to arrive next year with new character and tag battle mode.
Like Ryu in constant search of a worthy opponent, so too is Capcom in constant search of a platform for which it hasn't yet released a Street Fighter port. That search will begin anew early next year, as today the company announced a February 2006 PSP debut for the series with Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max.
An enhanced port of the Street Fighter Alpha 3 arcade game, Alpha 3 Max includes additional content released in other console ports of the game...and then some. First of all, it packs in the already-expanded roster from the Game Boy Advance version of the game (with Capcom vs. SNK 2 characters Yun, Maki, and Eagle), but it adds in Ingrid from Capcom Fighting Evolution. It also gives players a better chance to explore the nooks and crannies of the roster with a new variable battle mode that allows for tag-team fights where the player can swap out fighters in the middle of a match.
The game also retains the survival, dramatic battle, and final battle single-player modes of previous versions and takes advantage of the PSP's wireless capabilities for its multiplayer modes. Beyond the standard one-on-one and team battle modes, gamers can take each other on in handicapped two-on-one versus dramatic battle matches, as well as the multiplayer version of the new tag-out versus variable battle mode.

More news...
Free Dpad with preorder.
Gamespot wrote: | SF Alpha 3 pre-orders score PSP D-pad
Buy the portable brawler from Capcom's Web site and get a free fighter-friendly controller attachment.
When Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower first came out alongside the PSP, many gamers complained that it was difficult to pull off some of the game's special moves on the portable's control pad. For the Japanese release of Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max (Street Fighter Zero 3 Double Upper on the other side of the Pacific), Capcom included an adhesive D-pad cover with each copy of the game to address the issue. Those D-pad covers are heading West, as Capcom is now offering them as pre-order bonuses for anyone purchasing Alpha 3 Max from its official Web site. In the listing on its Web store, Capcom points out that the pad "will work on most console and handheld systems on the market." However, the D-pad is not an officially endorsed Sony product, and its permanent adhesive could potentially void the warranty on the system.

It was so hard to do combos in Chaos Tower.
So hard...
but I'm excited about Alpha 3 for two reasons now:
A. Free D-Pad thingywhatsit
B. It's freaking street fighter alpha 3 |

I want that D-Pad cover...
And, I also wish that Street Fighter was a 'collection' like Darkstalker Chronicles... |

That would be cool.
There are small mechanic changes between the alpha/zero series.
However, what they have given us is so huge... I'm all over it!
Not sure I want the Dpad cover since it is there all the time after you attach it. I noticed that after breaking in my psp, the moves were easier to do on Darkstalkers. |

Oh...crud. So, the only way to get it is to order it directly from Capcom? Copies from Gamestop won't have it! |

Actually... I had very little trouble pulling off any of the moves.
You should be fine without it.
And considering they use an adhesive to just put it on top of the psp dpad... I don't want it. |

Hooray!
But whats the diference between Alpha 3 and Alpha3 Max ?
There is sort of a Street Fighter Collection. The 15th aniversary Edition on the PS2 has World Warriors through to Super and a new Hyper Version I can't tell from Super. The wierd thing is, each player picks which edition they want to play from seperatly. |
