Introducing.... The POcast!

That's right, kids! The moment we've all been waiting for. Well, okay, maybe just the one I've been waiting for.

As some of you may or may not know, the majority of us here in Atlanta gather at PO Studios (aka Doot's 3rd bedroom). Well, someone got the bright idea to throw mics in front of us. So, over the past month or so, we've been having impromptu sessions with the intention of presenting them to the masses of PO.

And present them we shall.

Look up a bit and you'll see the Goodies Button. Give it a click and be on the lookout for Miss Unnapants. You'll find some info there. Wink

This is a completely new medium to us and one that we're all VERY excited for. As you can imagine, this opens up a whole lot of opportunities for our members to participate in otherwise staffly activities. We encourage you guys to make use of our new email address:

After these initial two "free-for-all" style POcasts, we're going to be streamlining a bit and focusing on one particular PO Topic per night. (i.e. PO's Origins, POB's, etc.) In addition, we'll be answering as many emails as we can and interviewing PO members.

So if you've got a question or comment about the POcast or just PO in general, you know what to do.

Yeah we listened to both of them last night in their finished form for the first time.

As the first one was going Doot was commenting on how she talked a lot during it. So when the "Welcome to the Doot show" comment was thrown in, it was pretty entertaining.

Erm. Is there any chance of that feed file being posted in a format that I don't have to download software for (no Pod, you see, only a desktop)? Not that I won't be eagerly listening in, but that simplicity works well for me.

It's in MP3 format SA, I'm listening to it now on Windows Media, and Shino sounds exactly how I imagined!!

It's in a standard rss format. You don't need any software to listen at all. It's basicially an xml file that lists the locations and tidbits about each of the podcasts so they can be displayed at places like:

http://feeds.feedburner.com/POcast

Here's the native xml file:
http://www.pocketotaku.com/audio/podcasts/rss.xml

Clicking on the RSS button next to 'Listen' or 'Subscribe' takes you directly to feedburner where you can listen to each POcast or download them. No software needed, well, other than the browser you're already using. And maybe a media player. Wink

But I prefer to use the catchers like Juice as I listen to a bunch of different podcasts. That way, I don't have to go and seek them out to keep updated.
