I know, I'm a dork...and totally addicted to the Food Network. But honestly, has anyone watched Good Eats before, hosted by Alton Brown? It's seriously one of my favorite shows EVER.
If you've never seen it before, I'll explain. Take Bill Nye the Science Guy, add food, and you've got Alton Brown. Each episode revolves around a particular food item that he explains pretty much EVERYTHING about, including a few tasty recipes.
This show saved my Thanksgiving when I discovered that truly the greatest way to prepare a turkey is to brine it.
So, any other addicts out there? |

And he's a Georgia boy. His episode on poaching culminated at Mountasia on Barrett Parkway (like five miles from my house). AB is a living god. But he's just here for the food.  |

If I'm flipping through the channels, and it's on, I drop everything. That's as addicted I can get with any tv show so it's high up there on the list. The show is presented well, he's very charming and informative, and it drives me to want to cook.
I'm also mildly attracted to him ^_^ |

This guy is awesome. Seriously, he just has so muc knowledge about the ingredients. He's also the host for Iron Chef: America. Honestly they couldn't pick a better host there.
and I've seen that thankgiving episode ming was talking about. i thought about trying it once. Maybe this year if i can find enough people to eat it. |

I LOOOOOVVVVVVE AB! He is quiet the humorus character if I do say so myself. He was born in California but his family is all from GA. I think he went to college for Drama, hence the outrageous themes! Does anyone know if that kid that plays his nephew is really his kid? And W are they married in real life? They just seem to perfect for each other.  |

I watch Good Eats all the time...So far my favorite episodes were "Waffle Man" and the one where he made a box smoker.
My only problem with AB is when he cooks he uses really expensive gizmos to get things done. IE IR thermometers, Remote thermometers, Dutch Ovens, Pressure cookers, outdoor grills, meat grinders, food processors, etc.
I prefer AB for entertainment and Rachel Ray for basic recipes. |

I'm not too much into learning how to cook anything that doesn't come in a box. I just like learning the science behind cooking.

Come on, you didn't think it was cool when he told us that water by it's self won't foam? I never thought making your own whipped cream could be so technical. |
