My computer is having a slight problem lately. We have four computers in our home network, and for some reason, mine is the only one experiencing shitty internet speeds. Don't get me wrong--the internet is going just fine, and my ISP is working at full capacity. I get very good signal to the originating router (most of the time). I have no excess of temporary internet files. I have not done anything recently to damage my computer's integrity.

There are a number of problems!
1: I cannot save cookies. It does not matter what my settings are.
2: My internet is exceedingly slow. Sites that run lightning-fast during normal times (e.g. www.vgmusic.com, www.pocketotaku.com) are slow as shit.
3: My CPU usage seems to be unusually high. I don't know how it normally goes. Here's a screenshot of what processes were running at the time of this post, along with their memory usage. As you can see, the CPU usage is rather low given the number of processes I'm running.

I'm going to run SpyBot and do an anti-virus scan tonight, and restart my computer tomorrow morning. I really hope I can fix this problem, because I'm mad.

What I find is - if another person on the network is running bit-torrents or downloading, they tend to hord the bandwidth from other computers. Your housemates can solve that by setting limits on their download, if that's the case that is.

After Spybot and AVG Anti-Virus both found 0 problems (aside from some pesky viruses that have been there for years and never done anything except be unhealable), I ran CHKDISK, went and watched G4 for about two hours, and came back to my computer functioning mostly at full capacity again.

Weird.

STATUS UPDATE:

Still no cookies. Still slow on some sites. Overall, though, the performance has improved. I'm going to back up my stuff and reinstall Windows and hope it fixes it.

Try restarting it and see what happens. If you leave your computer on all the time, it can get really slow and jerky. I tend to leave mine on and just let it go on standby while I'm not using it, and I try to restart it every few days. I've left it on for over a week, but it became a royal pain in the ass.
