Okay, the title was a bit over the top, but whatever. ~_~;;;

I finally got off my rear and uploaded some stuff i did for class (for earlier today, actually). This project went thus;

the three must be related.

must do one set for a pre-industrial setting, and one for a post-industrial setting. Also, tell about each setting.




So here goes, I coloured them in photoshop, which is one of the reasons i actually have them around for me to upload (as opposed to sketches, which get uploaded less frequently, because of my lack of a scanner at home. But i digress). The colour in a couple of them is a little off from the printouts i have, because the school version of photoshop is different from the one i use at home. ^_^; i adjusted as best i could, though.


Part 1: Carebear land

In this culture, the Ka'ta''er'' (note the gratuitous use of apostraphe. its all the rage among the locals) make use of their most prevalent adversaries, the carebears, to construct most of their necessities, such as food and housing. They use Zombie Snails to help them carry the bodies of the carebears back to the villiage, as carebears are larger than the Ka'ta''er'', and the Snails excreet a slippery layer of ooze as they travel, thus making it possible to move the bears.

The Ka'ta''er'' are small, red, creatures, which vaguely resemble ants, except with two tall hind legs capable of leaping forward quickly, and short front limbs, with three fingered hands (including a thumb). Traditionally, hunting Ka'ta''er'' fasten large teeth to the back of their hands, as a primary weapon during the hunt. Their excellent leaping skills make it easy for them to slash quickly, and sink the teeth deeply into their opponent.

The villiage itself is essentially made out of Carebears, most houses being constructed using ribs for the frame, and stretching tanned hides along the sides as walls. The Town Hall being the exception, as it is made out of many smaller carebears, which have been tied together. The town hall is used for meetings and such, which is why it is necessary to fit many more Ka'ta''er'' at one time.

Part 2: Toy Robot Land

The backstory for this is as follows:

This is set in the future, at some ambiguious time where we use robots for many tasks. Technologically, many things are robotic, but are bult to resemble natrual animals, such as bears, frogs, and turtles. In this world, about 50 years ago a robotics facility went crazy, releasing many hostile robots into the city. Luckily, it was discovered that they weren't tremendously smart, and if a person were to dress up like a robot animal, the rogue robots would not be agressive. Because of this, the government decided it would be too much trouble to go out and kill all the robots (they are fairly large, and this would be incredibly costly), so they issued robotic animal outfits to the civillians. The idea is that they will "wait it out". In 100-200 years, the power cells for the robots will wear out, and the problem will go away.

With regards to the vehicle, they are designed to resemble turtles, and come in two types. The blue type, is basically a taxi-class vessel, and is used to ferry civillians from one tower to the next (towers being where they live and work). The Orange type vessels are cargo-class, and are aproximately 3 times larger than their taxi-class counterparts. All versions employ robotic tentacle-like arms, in order to scale buildings, and any other terrain they come across. The Cargo-class vessels are heavier, however, and have a tendency to collapse under their own weight, if they are overloaded. To help safeguard against this, they have a trolley line installed in the center compartment, which attaches to cables stretched out over many areas in the city.

i guess that was a bit long-winded, but that was my last project ^_^;;

side note: when i printed it out at Kinko's, the printer exploded with paper, and i ended up with like 20 coppies of that guy in the ambiguous robot suit. I was signing autographs to people in class, which was fairly amusing. Luckily, i didn't have to pay for all those copies. that would have been saddening.

replaced the town hall picture with a more decent .jpg shot of how i have it now. its similar, but the size is bigger, and the ground is a different colour. Better quality too, i think.
