It's out as of today, we got it later than Europe for some reason. I've given it two spins so far, and it's great. With most new releases from bands I love, it takes a few weeks for the new stuff to grow on me. 10,000 Days is amazing from the start.

The sound is a bit less like Lateralus and a bit more like Aenima, though that's just my opinion. More impressions will come as I spend more time with it. If you like Tool in any form, get this release pronto. I give it two "horns" up.

Oh god. We had been hoping that album was a fake.

Blegh. I've lost my faith in Tool. Sorry, I just feel like this album is recycled garbage. It's like they weren't even trying.

Yea...i still really need to get it...give my two cents on it...that, and i've been listening to more hard-stuff lately...so it'll be good to get back into it now.

I picked it up but I haven't got a chance to listen to it. I do think the packaging is cool. It's just another reason to buy the album instead of downloading it.

Sorry you didn't like it.

It's growing on me though. It almost seems like a step back from Lateralus in terms of their willingness to experiment. I definitely like the last album better, but judged on its own, 10,000 Days has some great moments. It's not the revolutionary album Lateralus was, but strong titles like "Jambi" and "The Pot" make me feel as though this was a worthy effort.

I'm hoping they'll announce some Florida tour dates after August..

Vicarious owns my pants for the moment, just like Schism did at first when I got Lateralus. So now I'm waiting for something else to jump out at me.

Having spent quite a bit of time listening to the new album, I am starting to agree with a lot of other Tool fans. While I feel it has a few great tracks, overall it just feels like a half-hearted effort. Maybe the problem is that Lateralus was such an amazing album. It was more experimental, more evolved, and 10,000 Days seems like kind of a step backwards.

I still think it's a decent album on its own, but I was hoping for something better after waiting several years.

And they killed A Perfect Circle for this?

Really I heard Vicarious and it just seemed like it was something they forgot to put on Lateralus. Tool has amazed me with their progression from album to album up to now. But maybe it was APC that prevented Tool from progressing. Hopefully they stick with it.
